please provide your references. Multiple articles from multiple large publishers have all said the SRS sits higher than the GT4RS. All these major journalist get a lecture from porsche about the details of the car in addition to the test drive.
Unless you can provide definitive references, I’m going to believe the multiple and consistent professional journalist reports with access to inside Porsche information…..not what a random guy says on RL.

From the Porsche Spyder RS page
They are exactly the same and the same as the 718 GT4 and Spyder. Easy enough to find on the Porsche website, but you are free to believe internet YouTubers over Porsche, if that's your preference.

Posted in wrong thread first time somehow but now also don’t even remember the post I was replying to. Getting old and technologically challenged??
Normally, I’m manual-or-nothing for something fun on the street. I haven’t been in a 4rs yet but the feedback I get from a couple of people that share my complaint on most new/modern Porsche, especially pdk 3/3rs, have said “you need to try this thing (4rs); it is fun and full of character at all speeds and rpm’s; not just chasing redline and other forms of jail-time behavior”. I usually only trust my own experience/goose-bump-meter, but that statement from someone I know that has driven everything I have; it hit home with me and pushed me over the line to give an SRS a try (assuming I land an allocation). I assume that is some of the complaining above regarding the reviews to-date; lack of comparison to cars we’ve owned/driven. But I trust the feedback from someone I know even more than an auto journalist/vlogger..
I actually don’t care as much if I flick a paddle or use my left leg and right arm to change gears. What I do care about is a car having some character and change-in-character at various speeds and rpms and a suspension that can load-up/release at moderate speeds/cornering; does the thing have some LIFE w/out doing something that needs a closed circuit, helmet, cage, harness, hans, etc?! 3 pedals aren’t necessary to produce that and only account for a piece of that overall equation. However, 3 pedals ensure more obvious “change” at every gear change and takes the pressure off other attributes to produce said character. Sometimes, at the right combo of load/rpm/road-noise (lack-thereof)/etc, a 3rs pdk shift can produce “goose-bumps” other than at 9k rpm, but more often than not, it’s a seamless non-event. If an SRS does what my buddy tells me a 4rs does, but adds an open top and a softer suspension, I’m willing to take a risk that it produces character up/down the speedo and tach, including with flappy paddles instead of 3 pedals. I likely will know very quickly once behind the wheel. I should drive a 4rs to see if I agree with my friend but I know him well enough to know what he’s telling me; and the spyder heaps on a couple of extra items that should exaggerate the “character meter” that much more. A Scud is as/more full of character than any 3-pedal car I’ve ever owned; there are plenty of other Italian examples with lotsa character. Porsche however hasn’t seemed to care a lot about character for character’s sake and their 3/3rs pdk track machines exhibit this in spades. I’m hoping the SRS is a bit of an exception and has a design philosophy that engineers in a little character despite lacking a 3rd pedal. That is a LOT to ask of Porsche but I’m going to give AP the benefit of the doubt (well, that and my buddy w/the 4rs vs 3/3rs comparo review).

pretty sure I’m doing black. Or GR. Then again I have a GT silver and an ivory. Black would round out the boring color trio. I go in phases. I was jelly bean color crazy until 2-3yrs ago.

could be the best review yet..... talks about the stuff we actually want to read.
I just took my 4RS out for a good road drive, and even without the loud exhaust on at 2700- 3200rpm or so there is a bad drone. Even worse with the loud exhaust on. So without the glass to bounce the noise around the cabin, the SRS will surely sound incredible.

It seems to me that a fine part of the roar generated by the beast comes from surround in the air intake behind my head. I have sometime the feeling of playing a wind instrument (and it's so good ) but I wonder if "open air" would be the same thing or you would lose a bit with the wind

Basically written info from the Smoking Tire review, though, he doesn't point out the fact that Matt's Spyder is highly modified. Including the Deman motor and shorter gear ratio. I would be curious if Matt would still choose the Spyder over Spyder RS if both were in stock form.
for the rest of us normal humans, I’d suggest one of two Spyder routes.
1- if like or prefer PDK —Spyder RS
2- if prefer manual- standard Spyder (or GTS 4.0) with deman conversion of both engine and gearing.
Deman can’t do much to tweak pdk, they can still do an engine swap, but the pdk gearing, shift points, and software cannot be significantly adjusted for a new engine type/size. I asked him.
So for those that complain about the lack of manual, their answer is easy—Just do a deman engine and manual gearing conversion. Porsche won’t offer this, the deman conversion is the next best thing for a manual 718 model, and you save money/dealer games.
Only for the pdk preferred type guys, does it make sense to buy a Spyder RS.
