But this description applies to so many cars.

I was driving my 991.2 C2S cab today, and I thought the car is plenty fast, handles well, comfortable, sounds good enough, and doesn't have a personality that beckons you to drive like a maniac, instead encouraging you to pay attention to taking in the environment; do I need a car which is much louder and comparatively manic, with a cumbersome top? Then later I drove the manual Cayman R and I appreciated how light the car feels, how well it handles, how it has just the right amount of power for the road, the hydraulic steering, and the engagement of manual; will the SRS really add much value, as a road car, beyond the Cayman R?

Part of me feels pulled by the gravity of the SRS (i.e., the Porsche, RL, and self-induced marketing hype), and part of me says 'no, you don't need it, the cars you have cover the bases, and each is better than the SRS in some ways'. Confused ...

You had similar thoughts about your 991.1 GT3 when comparing it to others.

Then you purchased your current GT3 RS and saw the light 😎

Please do not make this mistake again, SRS for the win 🏆

Love, love, love my 4RS

I still think the 991.1 GT3 is a fantastic car, other than the engine issue. 991.2 3RS is an upgrade, but also costs a lot more.

Talked to my dealer GM today and he said he doesn't have good intel about what allocations may be coming. He asked me my preference between 4RS vs SRS, and I told him I'd be happy with either and don't need both, so I'll take the 4RS if an allocation shows up, otherwise will wait for the SRS.

Tell me more about the 4RS. What do you like and not like about it. How does it compare with your other cars?

This thread is about the SRS, so I will simply say you need to try it 😃

I’ll share my thoughts on the 4RS in the other thread after a few hundred additional miles.

I did update my comments on the 996 GT3 in that thread recently. Splitting time between some great cars is a lot of fun 🤩

OK, so would you take the SRS over the 4RS?

One additional comment related to the SRS, after taking delivery of my 4RS in June of 23. I decided to skip the SRS and acquired a 987 Spyder, personal choice. It is all I needed/wanted for the street.

Picking it up Sunday 😃

Nice to have them, but no one needs them. Plenty of fun road cars are available for less than $100k. And for the track, really only need one GT car.

Personally, I wanted the 4RS and begged my SM for three long years to please please please take my money. He finally agreed in the summer of 22 🤩

For those that must know >$25k and no trade but we do have a history of buying and selling going back to 2015. Yes, they occasionally buy cars from me at a profit, it goes both ways.

I feel like there's really not much to learn from these reviews, i think it's very clear what the car is going to be, there's nothing bespoke going on here....suspension springs/tuning same as Spyder...engine/pdk tuning same as 4RS, some slight differences with drone/overall volume due to cabin resonance, but i think it's pretty easy to sort out.

If you want to spend ~$200k and you want a convertible...Manual or PDK?
PDK: get a spyder RS.
Manual: get a spyder w/manual and get the Demann 4.5 with gearing mod.

Matt filled in a lot of answers for me about the SRS, especially the drivability and sounds, even the transmission. He was on record a long time ago about the MT in his Spyder, in the delivery video with Larry, he said straight up if is spending this kind of money he wants the MT experience, I can easily accept this because I too have a MT.

I learned a ton not only from his video but the podcast as well, details and expectations of what it will be are much clearer to me now. The PDK versus MT question was the big one, the video put that to rest completely, watching him drive the SRS I could imagine me shifting the PDK just like he did, it brings a different dynamic to the experience.

For me now, it is not about choosing a MT or PDK experience but rather a RS versus Spyder experience.

I have not read that the suspension is the same as the spyder, I thought it was the RS suspension with different damper settings? I think this engine will trump the transmission preference for a lot of buyers.
