With all of these part shortages it makes one wonder about letting go of their "perfectly spec'd" Spyder to perhaps have to make all sorts of concessions going forward.
Everything I have on my current Spyder I would (at a minimum) want on a Spyder RS, including PCCB and PDLS+ lights!
Been thinking the same thing. I would hate to be under all these parts limitations, and not know what ones were still looming. More and more, I feel lucky to have "just" been a part of the original delay situation, gotten a fully as-spec'd spyder, and to not be part of this misc-parts-disappearing-from-builds current situation.
But if the SRS follows the same schedule as the 4RS, and announces in Nov, didn't US allocations only start appearing in like March or something? A lot can change by then.
If only we would actually have the chance to worry about these problems in reality. lol I better work a lot of OT before then, just in case I get a sniff of a $100k+ ADM car. Reality? The front end'll be mangled like the 4RS, it'll be PDK only, it'll have a removable roof, I'll never even get a whiff of a chance at one, and they won't go for less than $350k-$400k in the resale market (my prediction). It's just you and me, my beautiful python green baby. (I should get her back with a new dash, and newly mounted Soul OAPs, early this week.)
modern JIT makes it the responsibility of suppliers to hold stock on your behalf. The supply chain has visibility of supplier inventory and raises further PO’s as stock is diminished and further demand forecasts are generated.
The supplier replenishing stock and Porsche replenishing their own stock really makes little difference. The suppliers are contractually required to hold X amount of months of stock on hand. Even if you are not running a JIT supply chain, you would have like max 1 -2 months of stock which you would deplete quickly and same result.
Modern JIT at the level PAG deals works on a full forecast model and no one is keeping any significant stock.
With COVID things got even worst......production was stopped or delayed, lack of workforce across the whole supply chain, high demand, etc - a disaster for JIT...so they had a lot of catch up to do and probably none wanted to overestimate production (or couldn't).
Just look at what's happening right now, lots of industries went on a PO rampage in the last 2 years to compensate shortages and now they are facing a huge excess inventory as sales (economy) are taking a dive.
The issue I have is that most suppliers are used to working on forecast, which is Ok, but with all the problems since COVID they have extended the lead-times so far into the future that you have to assume a lot of risks (ask me how I know!).
Porsche, being Porsche and the most profitable Auto manufacturer, probably decided to play it on the safe side, even knowing the high-demand for their cars.
Is that the standard clamshell rear? It doesn't sit higher right behind the passenger compartment, due to the airbox being there? I am not saying it is or isn't, just asking if people think it looks different. Looks the same to me. I think. lol
Would I get the WP, if I had a chance to get this car? It seems like such a huge price tag for what ends up being badging (weight savings being so minimal for the cost). Do non-WP RS cars suffer in resale for lack of WP? (Obviously I mean by more than just the cost of the package itself)

Seems to me scoop would be for all versions due to location of the roof attachment.
They might have a flush version of the mount underneath? Either way that entire assembly is integrated into the area where it says "spyder" on a normal one.
