The 718 Spyder RS Discussion Thread

I'm not saying I heard something at Porsche evening this Friday at Monterey, but I may have heard that a certain mega famous special wishes customer was told no gt3 engine with their manual mid-engine Porsche, not because it couldn't be done but because it wasn't the right time.
So.. I don't know what it means but I wish someone would take out their measuring tape and get to the bottom of whether the gt3 engine turned around in the Boxster/cayman chassis "can fit" with the manual gearbox.
I'm starting to think that we're going to magically find out that "oh, we were wrong.. it does fit after all here is your cayman/spyder R"

Even the 911R manual development cost was distributed between future models. The logic on this pipe dream doesn't add up.

Are Speedster buyers and Spyder RS buyers even likely to be the same people? I'm sure they'd sell every single Speedster just as quickly, simply by virtue of it being a special 911. Even if the SRS is the better car.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the accountants have firm enough control at Porsche that nobody's getting a budget to develop a new MT for a low-production, 1-2 MY special edition. If I'm proven wrong, I'm going to have to think fast about whether to stick with a "base" Spyder or scramble to try and find an SRS allocation without selling a kidney...

I've yet to see one on the track. I plan on tracking my RS, if they come out.

this boxster gets my bet for same engine and pdk as gt4rs. no way are they putting stick in it which might make it more desirable than anything in the 911 model range. the renders here look spot on. maybe it gets a bigger ducktail than the spyder
