No. I asked. They don't.

Scope might be final but what’s in front of it isn’t. It’s covered in tape.

Limited run spyder rs will be the next 911 R (crazy price in resale market).

If I’m wrong…why?

Wouldn’t that depend on the “limited run” quantity?

GT4 RS isn’t in 911r pricing?

I think there will be less demand for spyder RS than the GT4RS. Especially if it's auto only

Limited run rumor variants that I’ve heard are 1k worldwide or 1k to the US.

Porsche collectors / speculators love the words “limited edition”.

We haven’t seen what resale 4RS will get to in the US yet; technically it’s not limited edition, although circumstances are certainly working to make them limited.

I have been told by someone at Porsche AG that the Spyder RS is not a Limited Edition by a predetermined number, but will be limited by how many they can produced due to factory capacity and time before they discontinue it as with any of the GT cars.

This is a GT4 RS ragtop, not a Sport Classic version of the Spyder.

It will be more rare than the coupe version simply because of the fact the 4RS was launched 1st.

^ Given all the persistent supply chain issues what you say makes complete sense. There’s been issues with PCCB, yellow thread for stitching, Arctic Gray, Bose, PDLS+. Honestly I am quite shocked how Porsche cannot manage to have these stocked before production and relies on last minute orders. It’s been now over 2 years since the beginning of Covid, you would expect big and profitable car manufacturers like Porsche that have been around for decades to have a handle on these parts and anticipate order/production numbers.

Porsche uses just-in-time manufacturing and doesn't keep stocks of components. The supply issues being experienced now obviously have a pretty significant impact on this style of manufacturing, but there is no practical way of changing it now. Besides, who would have thought to stock up on items like yellow thread?

Yes, but they should keep some stock of parts as this parts shortage has been going on for over 2 years now. They know roughly how many cars they will manufacture in a certain period, depending on a lead time of individual parts/pieces they should keep stock for let’s say extra 3 months worth of production. They already know when they will stop production of each models to replace it with newer chassis so they can plan parts inventory accordingly towards the end of production.

modern JIT makes it the responsibility of suppliers to hold stock on your behalf. The supply chain has visibility of supplier inventory and raises further PO’s as stock is diminished and further demand forecasts are generated.
The supplier replenishing stock and Porsche replenishing their own stock really makes little difference. The suppliers are contractually required to hold X amount of months of stock on hand. Even if you are not running a JIT supply chain, you would have like max 1 -2 months of stock which you would deplete quickly and same result.

With all of these part shortages it makes one wonder about letting go of their "perfectly spec'd" Spyder to perhaps have to make all sorts of concessions going forward.

Everything I have on my current Spyder I would (at a minimum) want on a Spyder RS, including PCCB and PDLS+ lights!
