If I were a betting man I'd guess that the scoops will be a near identical part to the 4RS WP scoops just laid flat on top of the rear fender

It looks like that entire plastic panel as seen on the previous Spyder is now fixed so why make the intake so small when they could take advantage of the increased area to make a smoother transition...

No, not required, just that they utilize the entire area available intake cover, they appear to be using only a small portion of the panel and sitting the scoop on top.

With some thought this entire shape could be part of the assembly with the actual intake contained within the boundary, much like they used the outline of the rear window on the Cayman.

Im going to retract my comment... they could do a scoop design than goes over the fender panel... and not be restricted to the black plastic panel... that's if it's fixed. I'm not 100% sure the scoops are fixed though. On the 987.2 Spyder the hatch roof attachment points are required to be on the hatch... to apply tension to the roof canvas. I'm thinking the same is required here... the roof is all about tension unlike the standard 981/982 Spyder which has framing to keep its structure.

And I will add that after looking at some more pictures they may indeed be using that entire panel, just not looking very finished on the mule, and shown in dirty black road grime!

And with this system I am keeping my fingers crossed that the trunk lid can now open with the top in place...

I think they could have integrated the new intake cowbells to the scoops (streamliners) behind the seats by making them wider with a new panel design. While it would cause additional cost to design new panels, it should look better than how it does at the moment. Damn Porsche! Should have approached me and asked my opinion for the design, would have looked much cleaner and classier

Well with the 987.2 you could... so it's very likely this will as well. 👍🏼

All kidding aside, the cowbell IS the intake. the shape is the final one.

Once you pop the rear trunk, this removes tension from the canvas roof, allowing you to un-click the fabric buttresses from the silver mounting points. As you continue to raise the roof just like on the regular spyder, you get the exact same clamshell sheetMetal shape opening up. the cowbell has a hole in it. The metal attachment point stays hard- fixed to the chassis, and sits proud when the trunk is open. As the trunk is lowered the cowbell with the hole comes down and the attachment point sits flush again.

The cowbell is the final shape or it would have the usual black masking tape over it. This is sheetMetal. Cowbell = final. It even replicates the slash cut shape of the top of the lower intake.

Maybe cowbell will be black instead of body color, that would minimize it a bit.

Black in a matt finish or black in general? That frame is body colour on the current Spyder, although some have been known to wrap it...

Besides, you have been known to paint a thing or two!

Look closely at these two pictures. The intake cover rear-most point extends over the trunk panel. The cowbell is not long for this world.

I know a guy who could fabricate those two intakes in half a day and have them prepped for paint that evening. Do you think Porsche knows a guy or two too?

This feature won't be available on the manual version though.
