I'm going to the Rennsport Dragon rally in a couple weeks and I figured now was a good time as any to get a dashcam. I found out about the Fitcamx in the 992 forum. Looks like at least the front cam hides in the rear view mirror making it invisible as it is also powered by the mirror sensors. They claim it takes 15 min to install. Obviously, I need the rear cam too as I'm more likely to get rear ended than hit someone so I need to figure out where to mount that. Hopefully it gets here on time and works as well as advertised.

LOVE this. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a good Winter project. The only thing that would make this 100% perfect is if the app somehow recorded speed (as a user-defined option) that could be overlaid onto the video or removed via the app in the same way metadata is available on iPhone pics,.

About 3 months ago, I received a speeding ticket for going 54mph in 35mph stretch of town, but my digital speedo had me only going 42mph, so I am 100% positive the police officer lied about my speed. I think he pinched me only because at that moment I did not have a front plate attached, which I was also ticketed for, and due to the sound of my Kline Inconel which made him think I was going much faster as I passed him coming the opposite direction.

I beat the speeding ticket in a virtual court hearing thanks to a police officer friend, but decided to not challenge the $40 plate ticket as that was true. Would love to have my speed documented, even if just for my own proof, should another "estimated" speed violation ever occur.

i have this option with my viofo camera…but it’s a constant mental exercise to figure if it’s a smart idea to record my speed.

Hence, my point about it being recorded like meta-data that can be called upon if desired or just hidden by default.

Well, the problem with recording your own speed is it of course could backfire if you are in an accident or if you are speeding or someone is suing you. You may have just created evidence against yourself. I ordered the two camera kit so I still have to decide where to put the second one. You can always point it at your dash or yourself.

Installation is supposed to take 15 minutes so it may not make a good winter project.

I just moved, so time is at a real premium right now getting the new garage and home set up prior to Winter, plus will be getting married very soon.

Already watched the installation video and the job seems pretty straightforward…IF you have the time.

Noticeable improvement. Burmeister sounds PROPER now. A very nice kit from Musicar. I did the inner door pieces too, just didn't take pics.

Very nice. I had done my own using their pictures and Amazon sourced Dynamat. I would have used their kit but at the time they were not offering it. Because I was cutting my own Dynamat, I could add some extra here and there and ended up covering even more of the panel and door.

Like you, I noticed a distinct difference in the Burmester. No buzzing at high volumes and the sound is crisper. I actually had to turn down the bass two clicks as it was coming through very pronounced. Best $50 mod for sure. I also did the acoustic tiles inside the door. I just ordered large, studio tiles with sticky backs and cut them to size and did the overlay pattern as shown in the Musicar video. Not sure which of the two made the biggest difference but either way, I am happy with the result even if it added a lb or two to my car's weight.

I'm so glad I ordered the Burmester!

For sure. I had it in my 981 Spyder and loved that I could listen to an audio book with the roof down at 85mph so I had to get it on my 718 Spyder. The sound deadening and acoustic tiles just make it that much better and crisper and eliminate any rattles when you turn it up as it can overpower the door internals.

Me too! $5k, but for the Spyder especially, worth every penny (to me).

Nice job!

Do they really sell stuff? I've been trying both here and by email for weeks to get information and a quote on Stage 3 to no avail. My mood to spend thousands of dollars is fading.

^^ MaddMike yes I remember you posting about doing some sound deadening... I typically do this with all my vehicle - even with low end sound systems it helps a lot.
The improvements with the Burmeister was more than I was expecting. The bass is very tight now and at lower volumes I feel more of it. Overall just cleaner sound.
The kit from Musicar did come with 4 acoustic tiles... I actually wish it was 8... LOL. The more the better. I think the kit added 3lbs per door... difference between driving before or after a steak dinner !!
