haha - the noise changing from loud to quiet to loud drove me nuts, I had the same on a 997 I used to have and needed to solve that also.

For anyone looking to do it themselves, it’s not hard but is very fiddly to get to the bolts and get the leverage you need both to get the old ones of and to tighten the new ones.
Okay thanks, did you have a lift if some kind or just jacks?

SAME HERE! I had my OAP installed by the dealer prior to delivery. I have friends with this car and knew what I wanted. But I planned on doing the Cargraphic myself once I had the car. The 3 days I drove it without the Cargraphic were torture!

So just to confirm, you are saying that with just the OAPs it was too loud?

No, I'm not saying that at all! I'm saying that the constant opening and closing of the valves drove me nuts! It's particularly bad at low RPM's.

I leave mine open 99% of the time.

I used jackpoint jackstands (https://jackpointjackstands.com) which worked great. Key tools you’ll need…

- stubby ratchet wrenches
- e12 socket (two of the exhaust bolts are E12)
- hex socket to remove diffuser
- socket extender (5 to 10 inch) with swivel / universal joint - really needed for a couple of the bolts as there wasn’t space to get any leverage or move the wrench enough
- some penetrating grease if the bolts have been on for a while
