Oh, you have the APEX wheels now right? Yes, I will be very curious of your observations between them.

I wanted those originally, but I already ordered the APEX wheels last week and I just couldn't justify canceling that order and paying double. I am actually looking forward to seeing what the wider wheel width of the APEX front wheels do for the stability, grip levels, and turn-in of my car.
I was going to get a set of FI-R's for my GT3 but I felt that the $9k+ BBS-tax was a little high so I got another set of Apex instead.

When comparing 20's to 20's, I think the BBS wheels are only a couple pounds lighter than the APEX wheels, so not a huge number.

I actually saw the APEX 20"s in Brushed Clear on a GT4 last week at my race shop and that sold me, they just pop, while not being too bright to not age well (unlike chrome plated). So for me, that brushed clear, half the cost, and wider front wheel really has me excited.

I wanted the BBS wheels really bad for the last year, but they were never avail.

I'm currently running the Apex in dark bronze with OEM gold centercaps that I had tinted to match the wheels. I originally wanted the BBS but they were not available. Now that they are, I guess I will have both. My OEM wheels have all seasons on them for the depths of winter.

I take those guarantees with a grain of salt. The thing I like about BBS is they are classics and tend to hold 70-80% of their value on resale. Pretty much all other wheels go for .40-.50 on the dollar. I guess people are willing to pay more for the brand.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do give your thoughts on moving back to the front offsets and wheels widths compared to the APEX wheels after you have some miles on them. And of course pics of them installed, I always love the look of those FI-R's

It will probably be spring by the time I mount them and my Apex have the factory Dunlops mounted and I will probably mount Cup 2s or PS4S on the BBS so it will be hard to do an apples to apples comparison.

A true test would be to mount them both wih the same tires and run the same road/track with a timer. Anything short of that will be a placebo effect.

Unless someone wants to sponsor two sets of tires for scientific purposes...

Ahh, gotcha.

I will be doing an A/B test on mine in a few weeks. I am mounting them on the same tires I have now. I'll be looking for any vertical damping changes, initial turn-in, steering feel, high speed stability, and ultimate front-end grip.

These cars are pretty sensitive to changes, so 4.2 lbs of unsprung weight removed from each corner on the rear and 3.2 lbs each side on the front, as well as the wider width, should be enough to feel a little.

I certainly felt the difference between OEM and the Apex but I pulled my stock tires and remounted them. Ride quality improvement was the most obvious difference which translated to more control on real-world roads. In addition, turn-in felt sharper and overall the car felt more settled. I don't expect a major difference with the BBS but you never know.

Very cool to know, now I'm even more excited.

Yeah for you, the BBS are just more bling than anything else. But Maybe you will feel something extra with the even lesser weight.

well they do advertise it on their website: https://apexwheels.com/replacement-program so I think that's a pretty reasonable "grain of salt" ...

I agree that BBS as a brand do seem to hold their value better than others...

I noticed an improvement in the ride when mounting the Apex Racing wheels vs stock. However, I noticed an even bigger improvement when dropping 40lbs by replacing the OEM battery with an Antigravity battery. Pretty nice improvement for the cost!

I did that the day I bought it home and had the heavy OEM exhaust replaced with Kline inconel before delivery so I never even drove the car stock.
