Weekend weather was amazing so I took some time out to perform the sound tube delete. Glad I did. The cabin is much more civil now. Less boom and drone. Sound progression is more linear and natural. Also hear more of the engine and exhaust character. If I ever receive my Akra link pipes it should be about as good as it is going to get for my car (already have Akra muffler installed).

So your MO? 1" plugs in each of the openings left behind and something to plug the vacuum line or I suppose that you could just leave it in place?

Hey John, have you tried using two 036131510 Vent Caps?

I used the 1” floating drain plugs from Bass Pro (see this post). I plugged the vacuum line onto the t-handle of the drain plug. Quite proud of myself for that clever little idea.

It would be great if these fit. Can anyone confirm?

Hmmmm, from the other picture on the ECS website and the 19 molded in here I would hazard to say that this is a 19mm diameter plug, it appears to be a Norma Quick V2 connector style, so there still may be one available in a 25mm size.

The Quick V2 connector is available in 0° and 90° profiles as well as more than 200 customizable profiles, which can be used for handling air, blow-by gas and fuel ventilation. The Quick V2 includes an inside spigot diameter range of 4mm to 33mm that is made with injection molded thermoplastics and EPDM O-Rings.

Possible size indication in mm?

Appears to confirm about 19 mm diameter?

Perhaps someone in the US can call ECS Tuning (Chat was unavailable) and ask them to put a caliper across the inner tube to confirm it's outer diameter?

I called 2 VW parts departments, they didn't know the size either.

I'll measure the one I have when I get back home tomorrow night.
It fits into the port on the 981 intake manifold coming from the fine oil separator, not sure if it's changed on the 718;

Has anyone just put a plug in the outlet inside the car? Seems easier just to peel back the carpet and plug the hole rather than remove the parts to gain access to the engine.

Had time this weekend and tackled the symposer delete on my Spyder with Soul Resonated Race exhaust. Well worth the effort and am happy with the results. I took off the pictured black bracket which made it easier to get everything out. Autozone down the street had these expansion plugs in stock (1" version) which work great but are somewhat difficult to install since I had to use some pliers to hold them in place when tightening. Highly recommend the mod, especially if you run a race exhaust.

yeah, youtube is a lifesaver for sure!

With regards to tone, pretty much a small reduction in drone and cabin presence. The cabin just seems slightly more quiet now. Less of a tin can effect and I'm able to hear more of the engine and exhaust outside the car. Tone is pretty much the same but drone has definitely decreased. Doubt anyone would put the symposer back in once it's been removed....especially if you're running an aftermarket exhaust solution.

Hmmm, only a 'small reduction drone' huh, then you say 'definitely decreased??? I am confused which is it? Do you run GPF delete pipes?

In my Spyder drone is only an issue with GPF delete pipes, when I had only the rear exhaust swapped out there was very little increase over stock, adding the GPF increased drone noticeably.

GPF pipes are deleted with the Soul race exhaust so no I do not run them.

There is definitely a small reduction in drone....it's not huge but it definitely helps. Top down is perfect. With top up, drone is still there but better.

Thanks for the additional information, I am planning to do this as soon as I can gather up plugs for the pipes.
