Thanks.
I too was going to use a grommet to fill the hole, but since I’m not passing anything through I just used dynamat

this hole does, in my mind correct the install of CG controller. Only in that you may not have to run wires under the engine cover seal. Just not a fan of that and why I went with the soul unit. Though ultimately I’m still not using that either, just going with softronic tune and will gain full control via the factory PSE button!

please forgive the crude pic and marking.

If I just want to eliminate the effect of the Symposer on my 718 BGTS (and likely all the others), wouldn't the simplest and easiest approach be the remove that 7.5amp fuse in the trunk?

Can anyone confirm that the 718 cars DO have that fuse? Has anyone with 718 6-cylinder removed it to good result?

TIA,

TIA,
IIRC 7.5A fuse circuit is only in place for the Turbo-4 cars, the 4.0l 718's don't have this fuse so you either have to physically do something with the sound symposer, pull the vacuum line, pull the connection of either the firewall or intake end or both and plug the holes.

The 4 bangers have the Soundaktor which is a speaker. The 6's have the Sound Symposer.

I took the lazy route and plugged the hole into the passenger's compartment with a piece of dense latex foam and duct-taped over it. I put about 60 miles of mixed use driving today and I really noticed a big difference, so much so that I really want the Race exhaust - I have headers with high flow cats, OAP delete pipes, and valve controller so they are always open. I will probably get into the engine compartment one of these days and take out the symposer but for now it is fine.

So Bob, you can redeem the 'lazy' comment if you share details about how to safely get the carpet open in the Spyder to get to the opening...

Ha! It was easy for me since the interior trim piece that covers the roll bar hoops was already out since I am waiting on a replacement from the dealer since it had marks on it that could not be removed. Anyway, pop both speaker grills off starting at the inner side and then just start pulling the carpet down. There are a couple carpet loops that go over a tab where the speaker is so just pull them up and toward so, which allows the carpet to pull away enough to get back there. My wife was helping so she held that carpet away from the firewall so I could stuff in the latex and tape over it. I read somewhere to remove the carpet one should start at the bottom but my way was easy - took 5 minutes.

Has anyone toyed around with reducing the diameter of the tube into the cabin to push the resonance of it into higher frequencies ? (I think that would be the effect anyway). Maybe also attenuate it a bit somehow with some acoustic mesh (would also low pass too)

just wondering if there’s an opportunity to “tune” this. 🤔

ha, I haven’t already?!!
yeah if I can find enough time I might try a few things just to see the effects. I have some friends in acoustics, might run it past them too.
