Thanks. I was a bit shocked myself on the speedy production schedule (knock on wood).

Same here. My car is at the dealer. Just saw a grainy cell phone pic of it. I hope to get it on a transport headed my way by end of week or early next. Exciting last steps!

Satin Platinum. Personally I think it looks the best with Gentian Blue by far.

I'd opt to bring my son into the decision process. He's trying to save you a lot of work, black is really hard to keep clean (voice of experience here).
And who matters more to you? You or your son?

Default BGTS on order

My first post here, and I'm working on my second Porsche - the first was a 1986 944 I bought when it was a year old. New Porsche is a BGTS that is V200 with a lock date in March and delivery date in June. Like everyone, I'm going back and forth on a few of the smaller things (multifunction wheel, steering column leather, illuminated door sills, crest on the storage compartment lid, etc.) I'm very much enjoying the process, though, as it will also only be the second car I have ordered to my taste.

Exterior Color Carmine Red
Roadster Top in Black
Interior Color Leather/Race-Tex Interior in Black/Carmine Red i.c.w. GTS Interior Package
Headlight Cleaning System Covers Painted in Exterior Color
6-speed Manual Transmission
20" 718 Sport Wheels
Wheels Painted in Satin Platinum
GTS Interior Package
Steering Wheel and Gear Lever in Leather
Heated Multifunction Steering Wheel
Sport Seats Plus (2-way)
Smoking Package
Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell
Vehicle Keys Painted incl. One Key Pouch in Leather
Steering Column Casing in Leather
Storage Compartment Lid in Race-Tex with Porsche Crest
Voice Control
BOSE® Surround Sound System
Navigation including Porsche Connect

The Good Ship Mediterranean Highway docked in Houston yesterday. It was still docked this morning.
TYD says I'm still on the ocean and can expect delivery in 24 days. I think it's more like... this week?

I’m kicking my son to the curb on this one. Yes, black is a little more work, but it looks SO amazing when clean and I don’t mind it.

I also don't plan to PPF (and I used to work for one of the largest manufacturers of PPF in the world). I've had it before on other cars and just didn't like it. I could always tell it was there, I don't think it accepted polishes well, and just didn't feel like the cost was justified. I have other cars I can drive in the winter or on long highway drives, and while I do plan to track it, it won't be more than 1-2x/year. So overall I'm not too worried about rock chips. If at some point I need to have the front bumper cover resprayed, so be it.

I'm also not going the PPF route. I have it on my Targa and in my opinion, the trade-off is too great. PPF works great for small threats. But, when you get a rock that pierces the PPF, you can't just buff out the scratch. Also, in certain light, the PPF on the Targa has an iridescent sheen (the PFF has been on the car for over 5 years). And, there's a tiny fold on the driver's side mirror that I only see every time I get in the car. Once the GT4 is here, I'm taking the PPF off the Targa and giving both cars a ceramic finish. Now, THAT's a product I like! Keeps the car cleaner longer and makes cleaning easier!

Interesting to hear that PPF opinion. After fully wrapping my 911, I think I am in your camp now for my GTS4.0. Certainly pros and cons, but I realized your point after having it that once it gets a few marks on it, if you are a perfectionist, you will constantly want to pull it off and put new PPF. I am not confident had the PPF not been there, that those light marks in the paint wouldn't have been easier to finesse away. I agree as well that the ceramic coating to me was worth every penny, and that is likely all I will consider again. In the end, I also find that you are spending a lot of money if you do both, with some of that investment simply to keep it looking good for the next owner. For trade purposes, every dealer noted to me it added no value. In the end, the dealer that took my car never factored in the PPF either so certainly not worth it as I thought it would be at sale time.
