My car's VIN isn't on either recall. If you read the bulletin, it's very few cars. Whew. I had visions of another 991.1 GT3 fiasco. No way I want to drive a 992.1 base model for months.

For 190 cars with a repairable, defective part problem? The GT3 issue was a few thousand cars and it was a design issue, real cars were detonating their motors in numbers, and it was a potential long term problem for every single car in the group. It was also the company's flagship model.

Good luck getting Porsche to schedule a sit down for a group chat about this.

I believe it is about 800 cars (worldwide) that are affected with this issue.

Porsche AG is terribly disappointing. They have a massive product and public relations disaster on their hands and all we hear is crickets.. Cowardly top management IMHO. I know, for a fact, they have people tasked to monitor these forums, with strict instructions to never respond. No surprise.

You guys, and many others, are taking a serious emotional, and possibly financial, hit. Porsche AG has a $100,000,000 problem on their hands, and there is zero excuse for keeping customers and dealers totally in the dark. Some formal communique is long overdue. We don't need all the answers, just honest, forthright information, and regular status updates.

Porsche does an excellent job of advertising, marketing, brand protection, high end pricing, wringing every dine out of older platforms, and supporting feel good events.

They are dismal at speedy damage control, option change notices, dealer support, and sadly getting out in front of issues. This is decidedly not a supplier issue, Porsche has the responsibility for QC of all items, bolts, washers, suspensions items, the list is endless, They have obviously failed, big time. Suggesting a wait until late May for real answers is ridiculous and thinking customers will accept that, smacks of further Porsche arrogance.

I've owned 9 Porsche's; 6 were custom ordered. I am seriously considering cancelling my GT 2022 order. Two of the major attractions of the 718 are suspensions and engines...now both suspect. Mighty Porsche AG ain't what it once was, and appears to be trading on their old reputation. A sign of the times, I guess.

Stick together all who are impacted, and do get good representation.

I think 190 USA, 93 Canada. Either way it is a big problem, and people are getting restless and frustrated. I'm having a hard time with this as well to be honest, even though it still fits the category of "first world problems".

Now a Canadian recall - Rod Bolts this time. Do they even really know what the problem is?

Could be a risk of a crash or fire so we'll mail you a letter? What year is this?

Correct, I think "996" was the specific number I saw cited somewhere, ironically. 190 is U.S. as per the NHTSA filing. About 80% (~800) of the cars have not yet been delivered and are sitting in cargo ships, ports, dealerships, and maybe a few more places other than the buyer's garage.

My dealership contacted me today FYI. Porsche asked them to contact me to ask what my main concerns were. I told them I would not accept anything other than a new factory fresh engine. Compensation, and timeline are secondary to me - I bought this car for the engine! If they can't provide that, I've asked for a priority allocation for a new order. I may not get either, but that's what I requested.

So far the dealer has been very supportive, and they have 3 other affected customers.

I spoke with PCNA rep today and he has noted that he doesn't have any more info than what we know now and that PAG is working on a response. I strongly suggested that “its time” to communicate even if its a “our timeline for an answer is...” and, most importantly “we are sorry and we appreciate you, but we need time to get a real remedy and a real timeline for all of you” message. I was pretty firm that “crickets” = brand death. He seemed pretty aware of the temperature of this group. Hopefully, PAG wakes up and speaks up very very soon.

This statement by Porsche doesn't really point to a Rod Bolt defect. Just says a condition exists that could cause the Rod Bolts to loosen. Could be bad bolts or defective internal threads in the Rods. This statement alone doesn't point to any particular root cause. Could even be a defective wrench or other tooling resulting in improperly torqued rod bolts, although I do think I've seen another statement in this very long thread indicating the Rods were "not made to Porsche quality standards".

UncleDude, I don't think you are asking much all things considered and I hope you get it all. That is the least thing Porsche should do...
