Engine Ticking Noise

14K+ odometer...don't wait
2021 Cayman GTS. Mine is a daily driver - love the car but hate the GD tick. The above sound bite is dead on...as are the prior comments regarding the Porsche service rep response to our complaints (i.e., "it's normal, nothing to worry about" etc.). I have north of 14K miles on mine and it persists. I've voiced my concerns/disapoitment to my [respected] dealer. Trust me, they get it...honest enough to acknowledge it's a problem, and expressing their frustrations having to deal with other customer's complaints while documenting mine. I loved my 2015 GTS - no rev limiter :-) Yes the 4.0 GTS is surely a better car by far. BUT ...and that ticking is a big but.

New owner...same tick here. I don't notice it unless I'm going slow through a quiet neighborhood, etc. Maybe we'll get a recall one day?

It's a bit odd, but ultimately harmless, and around idle. I have moved on with my life.

Please help id Gts 4.0 engine sound/clatter
My new (exec demo bought recently with 5.5k miles) 2021 Boxster GTS 4.0 has an engine clatter/noise (see 12 sec video). Dealer says there’s nothing wrong and that they all sound like this. Can that really be true? What could this be? Thank you forum friends!

that is something loose in the engine bay.. there is no sound at idling.. but as the rpm go up, the sound comes up.. better get it checked... imo it doesn't seem something major.. nevertheless

Unfortunately you didn't report the oil and water temperature of the engine and whether the noise disappears after some miles. Does the noise still exist at idle speed ?
I contribute it mostly to one stucking hydraulic lifter. On second place I see the high pressure fuel pump or the solenoid fuel pressure release valve in case there is only one working stroke of this pump per camshaft revolution (but as far as I know there are two at least !) .
Due to the many complaints Porsche should know exactly and for shure but doesn't tell.

My sound is the exact same sound you have, albeit less constant. Mine is usually there at idle, goes away if I rev to about 1200-1500 and then comes on strong at 2000. If I slowly lower the rpm from 2000 to 1500 the sound almost always goes away instantaneously and returns as I approach idle speed. It goes away so fast that it sounds solenoid actuated.

Unfortunately this doesn't give a clear hint to the noises cause : On the one hand the high pressure fuel pumps pressure is released by a solenoid valve on the other hand the outlet valve has not be opened against a gas pressure in the cylinder, if engine is not running under load.
