It has been hard to find in the past.
IMHO, you’ll be fine. The C40 just has some low ash and LSPI properties for the GPF and turbo cars.

I recently purchased C20 at Autozone. There's a huge thread on the other 718 forum right now about this topic and the fact that many dealers have no clue on the proper oil to use. I'm not an oil expert, but I understand the C40 oil doesn't damage the particle filter like the other oils can.

Although C40 is what you want, do not go below minimums on volume because it is not available, oil starvation is something you want to avoid even if it means a top-up with A40 to get you by. I would recommend that you check the oil level gauge in the car, if it is above the minimum level you are still 'ok' until you find C40, but if it is showing a yellow warning, then IMHO either add some A40 or don't drive until you can add the C40.

Although a lot has been said already about dealers using A40 when they shouldn't have been, I will share what I did, I told them to call me when they had the C40 in stock, the change was a bit late based on time but still way under based on distance.
Interesting they said C40 was on hold, curious if this is true and why. I have a 2020 model so can use 5w-40 C40 and did so when C40 in Mobil 1 was unavailable.

There are supply chain issues affecting availability of M1 C40.
I know there is concern about the particulate filter with the A40 oil, but my true concern is using the A40 with direct injection AND forced induction. That's the real concern.
As it's been mentioned before, you're ok to top off the C40 with A40. That won't fundamentally change the additive levels that much that it will cause a problem.
There are C40 approved oils from Motul and other companies available, but that will take some advanced planning to order it online.
If you don't care about having factory approval, Driven's DI40 meets the ACEA requirements for ash % to protect the particulate filter.

(a) Mixing Motul C40 5w40 with M1 C40 0w40
(b) Mixing M1 A40 0w40 with M1 C40 0w40

So I would go with option A.

My local auto store has started to stock the Mobil Porsche C30 oil on the shelves, they previously didn't stock Mobil oils at all so this gives me hope that the C40 will come soon enough. Or at least be available as a special order.

My quest to find Mobil 1 0W40 ESP X3 for my first oil change after break-in has come up empty. My independent shop doesn't have it and when they called their Mobil 1 distributor, their rep said what they already have in stock met the C40 standard, which didn't sound right to me. None of the many local auto parts stores have any. The local Porsche dealer only has C40 by the barrel for their service department. The local VW dealer didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for VW 511.00 oil in 0W40. In the end, the local Audi dealer came through for me with 12 quarts of G-E55-040-1Q-DSP, which say VW 511.00, so all is good. As others have noted, the owners' manual doesn't say the engine's oil capacity, although it does say it's unhealthy/unsafe to drink motor oil, what kind of refrigerant the air conditioning system takes and that the air conditioner compressor takes 130 cc's of compressor oil.
