I'll second this. As long as you are topping off with another C40 oil, you'll be fine. They are all formulated the same per the Porsche requirements to meet the C40 specification.

Not sure about the 718GTS, but my 992 GT3 annoyingly requires both 0W40 and C40 (so only Mobil 1 complies, or the same as relabeled Audi-branded).

Fine to top-up with a little Motul C40, but I’m nervous about risking my engine warranty by using something outside the requirements.

What year? In the 718 family the 2020 and I think 2021 4.0l engines were speced for both 0W-40 and 5W-40 C40 oil.

Right, I think maybe the requirement for only 0W40 C4 was for model year 2022-

So if one cannot locate 0-40 Mobil, its ok to use this Motul 5W-40 for a 2021 Spyder? I'm getting close to oil change time and will have local independent do service

According to the 2021 owners manual, Yes!

One should be able to source Mobile 1 fairly easily.

I was able to pick up the Mobile 1 at the local Autozone, near our house, and I am not in a large market.

Ok, thanks. Apologize for the simple questions, my car is still being stored in the California desert, so limited time with car and the owner's manual.
Cheers !

I was also, surprisingly, able to find the x3 M1 at my local autozone for only $12/qt.

I have a bunch of leftover 5/50 oil from when I had my 2019 Targa GTS and I am thinking of using it in my 2021 Spyder, which I think should be fine for here in Florida - anyone else use it? If it matters, I have Soul headers with high flow cats, Resonated Race Exhaust and a Softronic tune so it is far from stock.

No, since I think only 0/40 or 5/40 is C40; however, it was not approved for the 991.2 I put it in either.

Then given your answer and that you have used it anyway, have at it, certainly the spec weight won't be a problem in Florida.

I was thinking more about the desire to use the correct C40 spec as opposed to viscosity.

FYI Audionlineparts.com currently offers the G-E55-040-1Q-DSP 0W-40 VW511/C40 for only $7.44/qt (30% off Audi MSRP)

Shipping seems a little high. I put 12 qts in my cart and they wanted $125.67 total for 12 shipped to me. But that is still cheaper than the Mobil x3 esp branded version at autozone.

Engine Oil G-E55-040-1Q-DSP | Audi Parts (audionlineparts.com)

No affiliation. And I've never ordered anything from them before. So I have no clue about their reliability. And their shipping rate seems high... But a deal's a deal.

If you have a local Audi dealership, their parts counter should sell it for $10.63 (MSRP) per qt or less...
