Now that I think about it, my manual has references to PDK and to Manual in other sections -> given the above is from a 2021, this is something that was changed sometime after the beginning of MY2021. Would like to know the reasoning. My guess is it's fuel econ related or warranty related after a few claims that could be theorized as having been caused by cold lubrication or pressure.
That said, my recent internetting tells me that in the states, 5W40 C40 is unicorn blend, and 0W40 C40 is pure unicorn ultra-distillate. Can't find it anywhere.

Yeah, I can find 5W-40 C40, but no 0W-40 C40. Will hit up a semi-local dealer as my proper local dealer won't see a red cent from me after their allocation games.

It probably got kind of overlooked because it was 1) posted once in another massive, unorganized oil thread and 2) was posted by a user with 3 total posts. But it was TNTGT4 that made a big discovery: You can get Porsche-approved (VW 511 00) Synthetic 0W-40 for $10/qt at your local Audi dealership parts department...

It is Audi Part # G-E55-040-1Q-DSP
Can be ordered online for $9.63 USD per qt here: https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...l-ge550401qdsp

Also interesting to note that that the Audi 0W-40 oil says "made in the USA" on the bottle pictured above, just like the Mobil1 ESPx3 is... Is it actually Mobil 1?

OK. But seriously, Wait. Hear me out here...
Look at the Mobil1 ESPx3 0W-40 back label that Halfmonkey posted VS the back label of the Audi-branded Synthetic 0W-40.
1) They use the same date code/lot code format.
2) They both have the same "6394" code printed after that. What is the significance of the 6394 code? Is it just a coincidence? Or is it confirmation that they were made by the same manufacturer? Or maybe even confirmation that they are the same product?
I have a few bottles of other Mobil1 products around the garage. They all share that same date code/lot code format and each is followed by a 4 digit code in the same format, but none are 6394. For example I have several bottles of Mobil1 10W-30 of a variety of vintages (some over 14 years old ), and they all end in "5885".

Anyone have any other insights into how to interpret the coded portion of a Mobil1 label?

I'm not seeing C40 approved anywhere on that Audi bottle. Even if it is the same stuff i'd rather stick with something that specifically says C40 on the label.
My dealer sells 5L bottles of the Mobil C40 stuff. I just use that.

I wouldn't bat an eye at using 5w-40 over 0w-40, as long as it's C40 approved.
0w-40 only has an advantage over 5w if you live above the arctic circle. If they are both C40 approved then I wouldn't be concerned about warranty.

I hadn't looked at this thread in a while, I went in to FCPEuro's website to check, and still no listing for the GTS 4.0 under 718 Cayman, just the base, S and T. I did select Spyder but the only motor oil it lists is Red Line, no filter or drain plug comes up either. Pretty disheartening that two year out they still don't make it easy to find the parts needed for a simple oil change. Since my engine is now brand new (see Engine Failure thread), I won't need another change for a while and I have Liqui Moly that I got from them last year, but my next change will likely be the free one at the dealer, depending. Pelican is the same way, nothing comes up for the GTS 4.0 there either.

Latest list of C40 / VW 511 00 directly from Volkswagen.
Porsche AG / VAG don't make oil. VAG stock rebranded Mobil, while Porsche stocks Mobil. Nice detective work, 0-Day.

Nice. This list, assuming it’s comprehensive of the approved C40/vw 511 00 oils, is more good evidence that supports that the Audi branded 0w-40 synthetic and the Mobil1 espx3 0w-40 are the same thing. No oil manufacturer other than ExxonMobil markets a compatible, approved 0w-40 weight oil.

This is typical, car manufacturers have done this routinely for years. Way back in the '70's when I was an Exxon distributor, we received oil shipments from the refinery in Baytown, TX on an Exxon owned truck. Our top passenger car oil was Uniflo, typically 10W-30 but 10W-40 was coming onto the scene. Ford marketed their in house brand, Rontunda( I think that was the name, memory is foggy) and one 24 quart case of Uniflo contained a couple quarts of Ford oil. Somehow it got mixed in during the packaging process. BMW used to have Castrol package their 10W-60 oil for the E46 M3. Some people have bought in to the mantra that they will only use the car's own brand oil, when in reality it is the same stuff a major oil company is selling.

The C40 oil conundrum.
In my quest for C40 oil I contacted my dealer today. They said they can’t get any, even in drum size, and have been using A40 instead. My understanding is C40 is only different in that it is emissions compatible with GPF filters. All this leads to a final point and my question. I assume my CGTS4.0, with inactive GPF filters, came from the factory with C40 0W40. I need to top off, any concern at all with mixing in some A40 0W40 with the factory fill? Sounds like I’ll get a full fill of A40 in a few months when the oil is changed.
