The guy from PCNA, Garrett someone, I believe, said that would be our best bet. In other words, I'll be assured of a Spyder build in April if I care to chance it, but still can't be 100% certain of the picking up the PTS build. Or I could proceed with a December non-PTS build now. I'm inclined to wait. No rush. I've got the 981, and I love the white with Classic Spyder combo, so if it happens it happens. If not, well, I see stuff on BaT every day that I'm drooling over.

So PCNA actually called you and not your SA? Did you have a December allocation or a January allocation?

Was December. He called the Sales Mgr. at the dealership and left a VM, and rather than try to explain it all to me, the Sales Mgr, who was obviously disgusted, emailed the VM to me as an attachment.
The dealership is now caught in a dilemma too. They want me to get my PTS slot, but by doing so they miss out on a pretty high profit sale this year. And the Sales Mgr says he doesn't know if they're going to be receiving more allocations. If they knew they'd be getting more, I could pass on December and wait for the first one of 2021.

Now I'm worried. Please keep us up to date on your decision and any new developments. Maybe this is like the GT3 fiasco where they canceled people's PTS and then later basically said if you want PTS, you get it. As Oprah would say, you get PTS, you get PTS, and you get PTS, everybody gets PTS! Fingers crossed.

I really don't think you need to worry. This was a one-off SNAFU, where I'm the casualty. If I were a little more paranoid, which maybe I am maybe I ain't, I might think it came to the very end of the month and there were only a very few spots left, and they thought they had one for me .....but then maybe they got a call or two from someone(s) more important......maybe a celebrity.....maybe a long-standing customer who's bought more Porsches than me ......maybe a bigger dealership with more pull....not sure......But why else would it come down to the last minute and they say give us your order within the hour and you'll be golden, but then 2 days later they say "oops, sorry, our bad," and renege on the order?

Sounds like a reasonable explanation. A big shot walks in, wants PTS, PTS list full, some mortal from the PTS list gets kicked out. Maybe that’s how Larry Cable lost his spot, too — they’re just covering it up with “oops, we forgot to enter it soon enough”.

Does anyone currently have V215 or higher for any ordered PTS Spyder/GT4/GTS builds regardless of build date/month?

I'm an early Dec build "confirmed" LOL PTS but still at V200 which is strange since there was a big rush Mid July to get the build in and color locked and PTS slot "guaranteed". Usually when this happens and exclusive tells you the build needs to be in yesterday especially with the color it is usually confirmed and locked at V215 This is a guarantee you have your color and PTS 100% confirmed.

Not sure whats happening but much different this time around.

that's not how it works, the factory allocates PTS production slots based upon the order in which they receive customer orders from the dealerships, once the available # of slots in a particular month (which is limited) is exhausted that's it - so there is a delay between a dealer submitting a PTS request and the factory
confirming it in the order system.

this is what happened to my Jan '21 allocation... my dumbass SA did not enter the PTS request on the order in time to acquire one of the available PTS slots.

sounds to me as though the dealership did not have a real allocation to start with... I have never heard of allocations being withdrwan

I was attempting to get a PTS Spyder, dealership had a December allocation, order in before deadlines. December PTS got moved to January, PTS "waitlist"
Now it's a NO. It appears PTS may be full for 2021 Q1 & Q2

Here is this email exchange to my SA from order management specialist at PCNA:

I am sorry to inform you that for Q1 2021 we have extremely limited capacity for Color to Sample 718 Spyders. Due to this and the order in which vehicles were submitted, the commission number below will have to have the Custom Color removed and a standard color selected.
Based on how things look now, it seems unlikely that Germany will accept this car for CTS. Normally we are able to simply shift the car back a month or maybe two. In this case though we are already completely full for Q1 2021 and potentially Q2, depending on the slots assigned. Because of the backlog we simply have to remove CTS from some cars, based on submission date.
Best regards,

Sounds like PCNA/PAG is making their rounds now to notify people that didn't get PTS. Did you get this email yesterday too? So what are you going to do?
