The worst part is that for $700 they are pretty crappy autodim mirrors. The side mirrors (which is why I ordered them so as not to be blinded by SUVs) have a ring around the outside which does not dim so you get this halo of blinding light which is better than all blinding light but still the ones on a 25 year old Range Rover were full coverage.

First time I’m hearing about this. Why do you think this is?

As for optional vs standard debate, I’m for everything to be optional so I’m not forced to pay for features included in the base price which I find useless. More choice and customization is always better. As for comments like “$20k Toyota has it standard so should be standard on a $100k+ Porsche”, people pay Porsche prices for Porsches because they get a Porsche (and not a Toyota), not because they expect to receive a bunch of options “standard”.

Porsche tax.

They charge because they can. They can because we are willing to pay.

Plain and simple IMO.

By the times comes around to your second Porsche, you'll not not accept it, but expect it. There's a reason Porsche's have some of the high margins. People are willing to pay and highly optioned cars make more money for Porsche.

I have a few questions on this if someone can help out:

1) Where is the event key for my build? I've read that people say "My car is now V200", but from this screen shot from my SA it just shows when it's expected to be in a certain event key, and not the current status.
2) When is the VIN determined?
3) What is CP 0.0/CP 7.8?
4) What is CT-assembly (Is this Exclusiv?)

Thanks!

1. I have not seen the V status on any screen shots so it must be on another screen that the SA has access to. As far as I know, I've only seen it on the build sheet break down.
2. Don't know. My guess is sometime around production either right at the beginning or at the end.
3. I have no idea.
4. I assume CT means Custom Tailoring. Mine will be in CT from 1/15 to 2/5.

The VIN is assigned as it completes production. It is considered the “birth date” of the car.

For example, my 981 GT4 “birth date” (VIN # assigned) was 3/17/16, and it arrived at the dealer 4/14/16.
My SA called me to let me know the VIN #. He’s one of the “good guys” and is quite responsive to requests for info.

Here's a high end PTS GT4.

So far in MY 2021, Porsche built 538 GT4's and 436 Spyder's for the US. I bet that PCNA didn't forecast that ratio.
(Yeah, general observation, not PTS related.)

Just wanted to check in again to thank everyone for their help and guidance. I've officially ordered an Oslo Blue GT4 for May production/June delivery. I'm still ironing out CXX options, but for me the definites are painting the headlamp washer nozzles and side-view mirror bases in body color. For what it's worth, in my discussion with the Special Wishes department, I was told that the last month of production is June, and it appears it may still be possible to order custom paint for the 2021 model year if anyone is interested. Again, thanks to everyone in this thread and the Rennlist community for helping educate me about my options. Now if someone could teach me zen meditation to help make the wait easier . . .

Congratulations; Oslo Blue is a beautiful color! Is June the last month for MY21? Or, GT4/Spyder platform? Or, PTS builds for MY21? Thanks.

I'm going to guess end of the line for PTS. It's anybody's guess right now for the other parts of your question.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing your info. I've got you on the spreadsheet. We all need some zen meditation.

Thanks! The rep wasn't specific, but at a minimum it's the last month for this PTS window. My impression was that it may also be the last month for MY21 production, but that's my interpretation and not anything that was said directly.

Yeah, my guess as well. Typically, MY ends around summer break in August. Given all the production interruptions this year, bit unclear if the traditional summer break, MY-change over would be maintained. They might since Germans have strict labor contracts. I'm expecting the production to continue into '23; at least, that was the info I had from PCNA a month ago.
