I have been driving and long loving Porsche manual cars since 964 era, and some BMW MT cars too since then. It happened again yesterday on my Spyder during morning spirits driving. Pretty sure my driving/shifting rigour this time. Really frustrated and disappointed on a new P-car claimed GT engineering... hopefully there is something Porsche will do or we can do to make it perfect.

1-2 grind reported to my P dealer in Canada not surprised they were unable to replicate.

Porsche changed my transmission fluid at 1200-1300 miles. I have almost 1700 miles now and I have not heard it since. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Was it a proactive fluid replacement by Porsche and covered, or did you request this service? Cost?

It was covered by Porsche. I was able to replicate the grind to the technician.

I didn’t acquire my unit from the dealer and is considered grey market, so I had it done outside. They didn’t get a single allocation in my country and hence had to find another way

Interesting note had not thought of this X factor.

Well...
When it happened, there was a car right in front of me (slow one). Like not really accelerating...
Like not in an “upshift mode“ but more like a “un-commited up-shifting mode“... Hesitating between accelerating and slowing down (as I did not know how the car in front was going to react).
Not sure how to explain... “hesitating mode“?

Kyrocks, what have you done to replicate it at the dealership?

Auto blip on, exhaust button on, auto turn off button on, drive in first gear and go to second between 4000-5000 rpm. I had to do it a few times before the grind happened. Very intermittent. Still haven’t heard it since trans fluid change.

Auto blip is supposed to help with downshift, right? Does it do anything with upshift?

I thought 1-2 grind is with up shift?

Are people hearing grind with down shift?

Yes you are correct. What got me thinking with PierreTT note is the hesitation with auto blip possibly combined for the grind? Had not thought of those factors possibly leading to a confused shift somehow not knowing whether it was going down or up? Although I'm not even sure if that is even mechanically possible maybe more experienced peeps can clarify. I have not had any since the 2 during break in but its in the back of my head. No issues on any other shifts up or down.

I need to read this thread in it's entirety when I have time later today.
I had the 1-2 grind today...twice, and I know my clutch pedal was depressed. 250 miles. Have not heard it before. When I heard it, I made a special attempt to push the clutch down firmly, and shift slowly. Will read to see if any of you have resolved this.
Gt4 June build.
this was on upshift.
no auto blip enabled

I speculate it’s likely 2nd gear synchro related. With the triple cone configuration unique to 2nd gear, it may just takes extra miles to break in (that’d be a good scenario).

To summarise a long thread (!) some have resolved with time and one with ATF change.
