We installed a Resonated Race Exhaust on a 718 Spyder yesterday. Alex drove it around for some POV video to give an idea of the in-cabin experience:

Wish my wife could drive manual like that!
How do you attach a GoPro in this setup? Helmet?
I put mine on the luggage bar and it was the first time I ever shot a video on a GoPro. It is so hard to capture the true audio of the exhaust/header combo. Maybe I need to play around with the settings more

Alex has been racing her 944 for some time so she's got some experience!

Go Pro makes a headband which works quite well. This was done with a Go Pro 8 Black.

Hi m. Gaidos. I am waiting for my bgts 4.0 and my controller. We spoke together two months ago and you where working on an explicite video of the installation. Is it always in construction ? I have questions like : need to remove muffler ? Is it the blue tube and how long from the selenoid to what barb ? Where do you bolt or screw the selenoid because we dont see well on your plan? Is the controller glued or screw? Do you need to remove the fuse box? Thank you.

Anyone looking to add the valve controller, hit me up. I have one that will never be installed. I've already soldered on a fuse tap and I'll ship it snail mail for the same price as SOUL and you'll get the fuse tap with my sick *** soldering skills included! All soldered connections are heat shrink sealed as well.

Thanks for all the time you take to answer questions Mike. Itching to get that exhaust.

Right now I have valves open all the time (disconnected) and the oap gutted.

So if I understand correctly with my setup:

a portion of the exhaust goes straight out without being mixed with the other side and doesn’t have a resonator after the OAP (open valves path) and

a portion gets mixed with the other side (closed valve path)

With the resonated race exhaust, all of the exhaust gases get mixed with the other side plus get resonated.

So my question is, is the soul resonated race exhaust much louder than valves open + gutted oap setup that I have. And what other difference should I expect ( more drone? Smoother sound, higher pitched sound)

I’m in Canada so with the exchange I’m looking at close to 4k $ canadian. I don’t want to pay that amount for a minimal difference.

Does anybody have the resonated race exhaust in the Montreal or Ottawa area so that I could hear it first hand? Some are in Toronto but that’s a 6 hour drive.

thank you

PS I think It’s the first time I’ve seen a vid with a woman driving the GT4 / Spyder. Totally cool. I’m always telling my wife to use it.

Default SOUL Street Headers

Just arrived today! Thanks John!

Can’t wait to get these bad boys installed. It should pair nicely with my SOUL OAP. As usual came nicely packaged and some new fasteners and gasket to boot! The pictures on the web doesn’t do any justice. The primaries look longer in person and quality is very good from what can see.

I’ll let you guys know how it feels and sounds immediately after installation. Based on my direct experience, these modern Porsches need some miles to calibrate to the new mod, so I’ll probably follow it up with another impression after 75-100 miles or so. I also assume that the cats will need to be “broken in” for optimal sound/performance as well, at least that’s what I’ve noticed in my previous Porsches.

Can’t help but think I need these. Must come up with good wife-splanation on how having these installed is saving baby seals or something 😜

You do not need to remove the muffler for access. You attach the solenoid in the same spot as the sensor in this picture, just remove the existing screw (circled in red) and then attach the solenoid as well.

You do not need to remove the fuse box. You can either use a fuse tap that you connect to the positive wire and then plug in or tap directly with a spade connector. Below is a quick vid we made for a customer which should shed some light on the hose routing:

Our race exhaust will still be louder than your current setup. We use 2.5" piping vs the factory 2.25" piping and this will increase volume. Even with valves open the muffler can still have an effect on reducing drone and volume - we engineered this into our own Valved Exhaust. The resonators cut volume ever so slightly but they are mostly for tone enhancement and to cut down on rasp. Our Race Exhaust is tailored around maximum exhaust flow and power, weight loss (up to almost 30 lbs), and durability during extreme conditions. Our Valved Exhaust was designed around the sound experience offering a smoother, higher pitched flat six sound with a focus on reducing drone in spite of the volume increase. It's not really clear what you aim to achieve with an exhaust upgrade so I can't make a specific recommendation but if you were to go with the Race Exhaust you would experience more drone in exchange for a louder, more race inspired exhaust tone along with weight loss and gains of around 30whp and 16 ft-lbs of torque over the factory setup. If you want a smoother, higher pitched sound our Valved Exhaust would be a better choice.

Alex certainly has some good experience behind the wheel on both the street and track!

That is method A. You are basically adding the solenoid in line with the factory line.
