Several days and 600'ish miles later update:

Volume level increasing and I swear the drone I had once notice is dissipating. Is it that I'm getting use to it or that as the exhaust's packing is settling in, its changing as originally perceived? I believe it is changing.

Side note, I know I mentioned it before - I LOVE the little growl, no popping burble (best I can describe it as) on in gear deceleration around 2500 rpm till depressing the clutch.

Went out to grab sound clips, but my normal spot had road crews working today.

Too header or not to header is the question for me.

Not worried about the warranty?

Same here, drone is quite a bit less noticeable than it was when I put the exhaust on. Mine is really only from 2100-2400 rpms now.

Ok, back to stock exhaust now, with the Soul valve controller still in place. While better to my "sensitive" ears, there is still an unpleasant drone somewhere in the high 2k-3k range. Not as loud now, but it's still there. Tried opening valves full time, and back to stock valve function several times on the way home in heavy around town traffic, so couldn't watch the tach like I would have. I think I know why Porsche chose to open/close/open the exhaust valves. It's the annoying in-cabin sounds when valves forced open in the normal valves closed rpm range. For me, at only 500 mi, all stock sounds best to my ears. Still waiting for the Soul valved exhaust to be built. Will decide if I want to try it when that time comes in several wks. I would like to have a higher pitched sound more reminiscent of my 981 Cayman S, but can't tolerate much in-cabin resonance. Who knows, maybe the perfect exhaust for me is the Soul valved exhaust operating the the stock open/close/open configuration!

Looking forward to your review. I’ve asked a few times in this thread if anyone is running just the rear section, and it appears that you might be the first (to report anyway). What’s the timeline? It does seem like Porsche was strategic with the valve operation, above and beyond the sound regulations.

What tips did you buy?

The Soul valved exhaust still on order. If I got it, I would use stock tips. Undecided if I will get it. Want to try it, but don't want to be disappointed again.

I'd do the Street headers with catalyst in place. No worries at all.

Stock tips here as well. Didn't want to mess with the ascetics since the stock tips just look right. IMO

Beautiful weekend in the northeast for some driving..I was just out with my comp headers/race combo and the sound is explosive especially starting at 5k. Man it's awesome. That is all!

Finally got to Road Atlanta at the weekend and the resonated race exhaust sounded fantastic. Couldn't sneak below the 95db limit for 'quiet hour' on Sunday so moved up to group 3 instead (for those interested, 'quiet hour' is required because of the local churches, however it just has the effect of all the loud cars driving to the gas station to refill - which involves driving right past the church!!)

Definitely getting used to this exhaust. I think my driving style has changed too. I used to have to try and avoid the drone and now I find myself driving naturally outside of it most of the time. I think if you drive it like a GT4 then the race exhaust makes sense, if you drive it like a regular car then the GT4 makes lots of strange, unsettling noises anyway and the race exhaust turns them all up to 11! You definitely have to turn off the auto stop-start though to avoid the 3-cyl switching, which creates a weird harmonic that's a bit odd for anyone that isn't aware of Porsche's attempt at fuel saving.
