i am not running the resonated race exhaust.
Drone isn’t bad, but its there. Again I expect changing the factory components to introduce drone/resonance differently than oem.

Initial impression of SOUL valved rear section.
To be clear I already had the SOUL OAP's running with the other stock components (valves disconnected) and loved that setup. But felt as though the stock PSE was as other described "Hollow". I wanted more sound and a more exotic sound so the Valved Rear section was the next logical step.
Valved system installed and it seemed at first that the original setup was louder, How can that be? I believe the thicker walled material of the SOUL system is directing the sound out the back vs. what the PSE did in resonating all directions. I keep telling myself it's got to be louder but the only increase I've noticed was a boomy drone where the previous PSE seemed to resonate/sing? I don't care about the drone, it is what it is and to be expected if you're messing with exhaust components but the lack of the singing sound was concerning. Then came an overpass... she sings. but Is it louder? I have no frigging idea!
It's the change in interior sound that has me confused because I feel it's actually quieter inside the cabin. I suppose that's a good thing.

I thought one of the goals with this rear section was to reduce interior cabin noise. For sure thats the end result, but be assured the sound is still present to passerby!

Everyone's tolerance for drone is different, and mine is very low. For the meantime, going back to complete stock exhaust (with valve controller open). Haven't tried that yet. Went from brand new to OAPs with the valve controller. Not completely satisfied with the OAP alone when in the mid rpm range where I spend most of my time. I do have the valved exhaust on order, so during lead time, I'll have opportunity to see if open valve, but otherwise completely stock config works for me. If that doesn't work, the next step would be to try the valved exhaust w/o the OAPs. A higher pitched exhaust note would be good! We'll see. Miss my 981 S's PSE!

So, you tried this: Controller + OAP? And, got drone with valves open under 4k? If so, have you tried plugging/completely disabling Sound Symposer? John is gonna experiment; but, couple of others have tried and seem to have concrete evidence; or, at least, that's how I interpreted. Sound Symposer is likely the bad actor in this specific scenario: valves open + under 4k. I sure hope so. If that turns out to be a red herring, then I would conclude, it is impossible to achieve a good, drone-free, traditional flat-six sound at civil volume in this gen. That would be a shame! However, I do realize that a lot of folks are happy with the stock sound or a combination of after-market options. So, there is that!

Don't know if it's exactly drone, but it's an unpleasant sound to my ears in the low-mid range. John did mention the Sound Symposer, and how it's contributing to the unpleasantness I perceive. Not ready to go the route of disabling it just yet. Want to try the stock pipes w/open valves route first, and if that doesn't fit the bill, I will entertain disabling it. Right now, after being in the shop for pipes, controller, shifter, grills, then another for PPF, and still another for Ceramic. Tues it's back to the shop to put the stock OAPs back on. I just want to enjoy my car I waited so long for! Only have 400 mi on it so far!

Matt and I had the conversation before we ever began the project that he would go out and try as many systems as he can, and Dundon was of course on that list. While Matt's tastes change as his curiosity is never quite satisfied, it should be of no surprise to anyone he is off on the hunt again haha. Jamie over at Dundon is also a good friend and colleague in the industry, and deserves some time to shine in OG's Limelight as he was Matt's go to on the GT3s before we came bursting into the game years ago

Drove it this morning from PPF shop across town to Ceramic Coating shop. Opened the valves again, and this sound alone is not the sound I'm looking for. Yes, I only have 450 mi on the car, so still going through break in, but as mentioned previously, the great majority of my driving is in the off-idle to the 4k ish range. Sure, it sounds great when revved out, but that's not where I spend most of my time on the tach. Have yet to try the stock pipes with valve controller set to open, so that's what I'm doing next. Still have the Soul valved exhaust on order, and will decide if that's something I want to try next with the GPF in place. I do like the higher pitched tone it makes.

I think you'll be happy with the SOUL valved exhaust. Its much lower tone until you get to 4-5K at which point it's probably comparable volume wise with better tone. What I'm hearing on deceleration is this cool growl, I can only assume it's the blending from the x-pipe.

Just drove my car with soul resonated race exhaust
it seems the car woke up. It is more nimble , the engine seems to be revving smoother and it reminded me of a GT3 in a good way
on a negative note, there is a resonance/drone between 2-3 k rpm most prominent around 2400 rpm which can be annoying. Too early to judge but certainly is on the negative side

@Goodwood are you in ohio, not sure why but was thinking you were?
I’ll be in Columbus for a Fort Wayne Driving Club & Columbus Cars & Coffee event. Just from our area there are about 100 cars making the journey together.
anyway... if you are and wanted experience the SOUL valved, i’m happy to help.
