I installed the Soul OAPs yesterday. It took me more like 6 hours instead of 2 (1 hour of that was running out to get a replacement for a broken wrench). I decided to do it myself for the fun of it and to partially offset the cost of a Quickjack (rationalization at its best). The double-nut stud-removal method worked fine for one side but was a bust for the other side. I tried to get the stock OAP out from the "easy" side for about an hour with no luck. It's obvious now but I should have realized that I needed to have the other side completely unbolted (even with some studs still in) to get more play in the muffler. In the end I did just that and then unbolted the bottom of the muffler and used a strap to (gently) pull it back to get enough some play with which to work. Then the problem side came out even with some studs still in place.
I've never driven my Spyder with the vacuum lines connected. Even so, the new sound is quite a bit louder than I expected, but very, very good. Initial startup in my echo-prone shop almost startled me. The volume is reasonable enough even for neighborhoods (I live in a rural area) up until about 3,500 rpm and then it starts getting louder fast. Also got downshift pops and burbles back (or maybe now they're just amplified) reminiscent of my 981S w/ PSE. Searched the rev range for drone but I didn't notice any. Very satisfied, but I definitely won't be looking for more volume via additional mods.

Is this the resonated or non-resonated race exhaust?
What do you think the sound difference would be with race headers + resonated race exhaust vs street headers + non-resonated race exhaust?

I placed an order the resonated race exhaust today. It says 8-9 weeks expected delivery, is that right?

Yours also went out to Jet Hot Ceramic Coating after it was completed within the expected lead time, so that isn't quite relevant to the normal lead time my friend. Thank you for your patience!
Placing Orders/Order Updates/Lead Times
.For those that have been following this thread I'm sure you already know we have lead times. As of right this minute, we are bouncing around the 8-10 week mark with 413 orders worth 3043hrs of fabrication on the schedule. If you've been following this thread and saw post #360, you'll know that two months ago we were at this same lead time with 311orders worth 2194hrs, which goes to show how Huge our strides have been in manpower and efficiencies that have been coming full circle, allowing us to greatly increase out weekly outputs without sacrificing the quality of our products and reputation. Some have received their orders far earlier than 8-10 weeks, and that is a possibility if you catch the tail end of a batch run of orders ahead of you, but we always try to operate on an underpromise and overdeliver platform.
.
We apologize for the wait guys. if this was March pre-Covid we'd likely have it out to you in a week. It has been a blessing how busy we have been since losing manpower for four months with the Covid shutdown earlier this year, while orders nearly doubled over 2019. We have added four new fabricators to the team and are looking for more. It took a long time to find the right people to add to the fabrication team, and we are okay with that. We will not sacrifice our quality to just throw anyone on the bench to pump out product. We are very picky, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to grow while doing everything we can to get that lead time back down as it is our number one priority Done Right.
.
Here is a photo of our team when we announced sponsoring PCA Club Racing for 2020, and we'll be doing another one in a couple weeks with a lot of new faces. I'm the fellow wearing the Porsche hat to the right of the header, Mike Spock our marketing guru is dead center giving the thumbs up. We all owe our livelihoods to you and the rest of our customers, and we never forget that. THANK YOU for your business and your support!
If you'd like to place an order, please feel free to do so on our website and reference John Gaydos as your representative during checkout. Ill be sure to oversee the order as it moves through the fabrication queue. In the Notes section, we'd appreciate letting us know if you came from Rennlist and what your username is - we're always interested in knowing who's who on here. You can also call/text/whatsapp me at 1-484-883-6197, shoot me a PM, or email me at johng@soulpp.com. I am always happy to provide you with order updates answer any questions to ensure you make an educated decision.

Sick sound. In a good way. For the price you can’t go wrong. And a lifetime warranty. Love the high pitch metallic sound at the top end.
Thank god for OG videos. Every exhaust sound videos should take advice from Matt. everything you hear is detailed.
Used to watch his videos when he was at 30k subscribers. Way to go Matt and Soul.

We are scheduling a local GT4 for a test fit of our second revision of the sport header assemblies. If all goes well I expect we will be able to accept preorders of those headers sometime in January.
I have the race (resonated version) on my Spyder and have a few comments/opinions to add. The power increase is definitely noticeable....seems to want to rev more freely and my butt dyno confirms an increase in HP and torque. Most importantly, the fun factor increases and I find myself wanting to hit the higher revs, especially with the top down. An overall more enjoyable driving experience, even away from the track. However, if you want zero booming sound in the cabin, this is not your exhaust.
With regards to sound and my personal experiences, I found it initially much more aggressive than stock and was a bit concerned about the drone/boom. Definitely MUCH better in the higher revs with a somewhat nasty drone/boom 2.2K to 2.8K that is less once you put the top down. However, after a few weeks, I really don't notice the boom in the cabin as much. I initially would avoid the drone by staying out of that particular rev range but now I don't mind it and shift normally around town. My guess is that one's ear gets accustomed to the sound after getting over the initial shock of how much more aggressive it is over stock. Sure, it's not perfect with the drone/boom but for the $, the positives far outweigh the negative. I would say if you get one, give it a few weeks to get accustomed before making a final determination. For me, it makes for a better overall experience by giving the car a more raw and aggressive feel ..... a real "GT" car.

This dyno confirms what JCR had also found....I'm really surprise a N/A Porsche engine could gain so much from a cat-back exhaust. +30 hp for $2,600 is a no-brainer if you don't mind the volume and a bit of drone.
You are basically knocking on 450 hp (engine).....if you add race headers that could be an additional good 15 hp and you still haven't done a ECU flash or COBB AP.

I would like to hear this drone, I don't think the volume would bother me since I'm already used to my GT350R which has become my benchmark for exhaust sounds. However the GT350R doesn't have a drone at all. The race exhaust will put it near the GT350R level but would like to hear this drone before I pull the trigger.

I was hoping to get the exhaust by the Jan 15/16 track event but I guess that won't happen. I'll probably just wait to have it installed on my PTS GT4 which is coming in late March.
