due to the cost of R&R of the transmission.

The stock PSE programming doesn't bother me -- if I'm just running around town or en route to the hills valves closed below 3800 is perfect.

I think you'll find the range above 3800 quite satisfying, above 6000 it's quite spine tingling.

While I've done it that way myself for quite some time, there is something to be said for going right to the Full Monte. We can use an analogy comparing the exhaust setup to the Cayman Lineup. Let say you upgraded from a Cayman Base to an S and are super happy and content with the enhanced performance and overall driving experience. That doesn't mean you won't be that much more impressed and happier with a GT4. Similarly, if you've upgraded the sound and performance with our over axle pipes and are quite thrilled with the results, adding our Valved Exhaust System is just that much better

Be sure to give me a ring once you have some seat time, I'd love to hear your feedback : )

Anyone have any impressions of the Race Exhaust? Matt from OG really thought it was drony but I’m wondering if that’s just matter of gear selection when just driving normally. Is it truly that loud? If I’m going to spend more than half on OPF delete might as well get the Race exhaust and save 30lbs to boot!

Yes it is truly that loud, especially with no cat headers. I’m sorry but volume is probably one of the least important metrics to getting to that perfect noise. IMHO it’s more about the pitch and undertones. The boxer motor has a host of subtle undertones and harmonics depending on RPM and a great exhaust let’s those through without causing your ears to bleed.

if you could take the noise the Soul race system makes and dial it down 20dB it would be perfect. Sadly, that’s a very allusive target.

Did you hav to return your setup?

I’m starting to conclude that Headers, 200 cell cat, and OPF delete with OEM muffler combo is the ticket. I think Dundon has this but damn for $9K...I can buy a nice daily for that amount of $$$.

I have a Spyder with resonated race system. In a top up Spyder and likely a GT4, yes the drone is definitely there from around 2200 to 2800 RPM when applying moderate throttle and can be too much for someone sensitive to it. However, with the top down, it's much better and has less cabin presence...the sound is different with much less boom. Yes, it's still loud with top down but in a much better way. The car is much more raw and fun with the upgrade. The other surprise is the gain in HP and torque. I think it's a great choice and you can't beat the value especially if you have a track focused GT4 or a Spyder that will primarily be used with top down. Good luck.

It’s not my car, I’m not Matt but yes, he said he’s going to return it. Remember, the deal with him and Soul is B2B so what he’s doing and what he pays bears no resemblance to a retail customer.

I think you are going in the right direction but I’m not going to do headers, too much potential for warranty issues later on but I’ve gotta say the Cargraphic system BGB is working with them on is tasty. I’m waiting till after the Rolex to get better acquainted with their shop GT4 while they are dialing in my suspension. Probably not fair since they’ve already put a tune on it and that’s a non starter for me as I can’t afford to not have the factory warranty.

So...only change is the OPF delete with Soul (still running stock muffler)?

I have a Spyder put my race exhaust about a week ago and love it, the drone is not a problem for me, I wish it was louder. I had a 981 GT4 which I had a race exhaust from another company which Matt drove multiple times at the SmokiesGT event the drone in that setup was insane and I put probably 30k miles on that setup. Thank you! John. I'm set!!

It’s all relative. The PSE on my 981 BGTS was fine for me, never felt the need to spend any money on it. I’ll do the GPF delete with valve controller and see where I’m at. Contrary to popular belief the factory muffler design is actually pretty damn good so I’m not expecting to need to go beyond that.

Also, everyone needs to understand that a “race” exhaust, aka open pipes, behind the stock cats will be 2 to 3 times quieter than the same setup behind open headers. Remember, every 3dB doubles the volume.
