Do any of you who have these new cars know if Porsche got around to changing the system so that it now allows the battery tender to keep a trickle charge on as long as it is plugged in or do they still time out after 30 minutes?

New cars?... since my 987 I have been keeping my Porsche AGM batteries at the ready with a CTEK charger, no problem on the current Spyder and our 2016 Macan either, never times out for me... simply plug it into one of the cigarette outlets within a few minutes of turning off the car, or plug it in and turn the ignition to on then off while plugged in and it stays charging, never an issue doing it this way.
Hmmmm. I would really recommend getting a CTEK and here is my recommendation, dead batteries or replacing one that gets damaged by over-charging is not worth the hassle, CTEK is the Porsche OEM supplier. I have this exact model maintaining my 2020 Spyder right now.

Westcoast does or does not your car shutdown on its own after 30 or so minutes of charging ?

The vehicles do NOT shut down, the CTEK remains connected, monitoring and maintain the battery as it was designed to do.
My Spyder and Macan are connected right now, both went out 3 days ago, the CTEK's are plugged in with the optional cigarette adapters into the console plugs on each vehicle, both CTEK units are fully active and read that they are now maintaining the AGM batteries in those vehicles. I have the MXS 5.0 connected to the Spyder, you can see the AGM mode is selected, the Macan is connected to the MUS 4.3 and the Snowflake symbol indicates AGM mode on that unit.
Again here is my process, simply plug it into one of the cigarette outlets within a few minutes of turning off the car, or plug it in and turn the ignition to on then off while plugged in and it stays charging, never an issue doing it this way.

Yes, the MUS 4.3 Test and Charge can perform some basic tests that the MXS 5.0 does not do. In the UK there is a version of the MXS 5.0 that does this as well.
From a charging perspective they are the same.
Testing Three easy to use programs tests battery voltage, start power, and alternator performance to provide a complete picture of battery and vehicle charging system health.
How many here planning (or at least attempting) on getting a 4RS or GT3, when available?
I'll spec one out and see what the $$ looks like, but happy with the GT4 at the moment. Given it was a year from placing the initial spec with my SA to delivery, I'm not in a rush to wait again.

I suspect the RS will be PDK only, and that's a deal breaker for this slot in the garage. The 992 GT3 ... if you'd asked me before I took delivery of the gt4 I would have said definitely. Now I'm not so sure. I chose the gt4 over a used 991 to mix up the driving experience with a mid engine car and less power than the other cars. A back roads carver. The roads around here don't need more power to make more fun. I think I need to figure out how to spend some time at PEC and drive some caymans and gt3 back to back...

I feel exactly the same right now. I went the route of the GT4 to kinda "get into" the GT car bandwagon to eventually get to the 992 GT3 that I put a deposit on. After driving this car for almost a month now I can say that I dont see the need for the GT3. Sure it will be faster and will make perfect shifts everytime with PDK but will it make me smile everytime I hit a perfect heel-toe downshift just before taking the exit ramp and shifting up at redline after WOT? I dont think so today. Maybe in 2 years I'll have a different opinion, time will tell.
