Default It’s worth it

Had several black cars, Artic silver C2S before the Gentian. This color is absolutely gorgeous and the pics don’t do it justice. I was looking for chalk, silver, but I’m glad I went Gentian, I did the PPF front clip, lower sides, and thinking about doing the roof and trunk lid it which makes it easier to maintain. I keep it under the cover which helps tremendously. I think it was $50 through amazon and does a nice job. Get the color you want, and don’t look back...

I still have a Dark Blue Metallic in the family (Macan), and drove DBM Boxster's for 8 years so from real world experience I would say unless you really enjoy taking care of dark paint jobs choose carefully!

Note the colour of my Spyder!

981 GT4 in Dark Blue Metallic

718 GT4 in Gentian Blue
i have a 911 in dark metallic blue and a gt4 in genetian. They aren’t that close in the same lighting. You have the genetian in the shade and the dark blue in the sunlight in those pictures. Both colors have a richness to them which changes significantly with the lighting conditions. Genetian is more blue hued.

Don't get me wrong I love both colours, and yes it is tough to find pictures taken in the exact same lighting conditions, but they are both still 'dark' colours, I was just saying that IMHO the DBM Boxster's I had would present about the same level of difficulty/effort when it comes to keeping them looking their best,

The question was GB compared to Carrera White Metallic, these are a world apart when it comes to how they show dirt.

sure. White has the same problem with dark dirt, water off the road, brake dust ... choose your poison. Or add a ceramic coat and hose it down regularly. Or just don’t care. I’ve found that very effective

I'd definitely be doing a full PPF wrap on it (either color), and possibly doing ceramic, either myself or the PPF installer. Ugh, such a hard choice, I love the way the blue looks, it reminds me of the tri-coat Blue the Nissan GT-R came in, but I also like the GT4 in white as well.

Agreed, dirt is colour agnostic, personal tolerance is a big factor as to when the bucket of soapy water comes out!

FWIW GB was a front runner, but for me after 8 years of blue I wanted a change, I have always said that colour is the toughest choice when spec'ing a new car, good luck with yours!

GT Silver is the color winner in this regard, hands down. My 987 Boxster S is the first car I've had in that color -- it hides dust and dirt like magic.

I've never owned a white car before, but I always thought the maintenance was less than on darker colors. If it's not substantially less than GB, then I'll probably just stick with GB, especially if it's not as bad as black.

I have white 5-series BMW and Ram truck. White is WAY easier to keep clean than any dark color. The ranking goes:
silver > white/yellow > dark > black

These photos are from about a month of semi daily driving and no washes. It’s been dry here. Not the best pictures from an iPhone and poor lighting, but I think it conveys the general idea. The car up really close has a good layer of dust, but out and about I think it really is hard to tell it’s that dirty. I continue to be super impressed with this color.

I agree. I'd keep the wheels silver, at least for a while. The car looks stunning just like that.

I saw the car in the showroom and my first thought was: "if only the wheels were satin platinum"... . That's why
