WRT clearance of 19s on PCCB and/or steel brakes, yes, there is minimal clearance on the PCCBs. The wheel will mount, but yes, FOD will cause minor scoring on the wheel barrel, as well as possibly on the caliper. It really depends on how you want to use your car. For those wanting maximum performance and best tire selection, the 19s are going to be the better option. In the grand scheme of things, if you score the calipers, you can always buy replacements down the line if you want the car pristine again. The cost of the PCCBs isn't in the caliper itself.... They aren't really that much different than the "steel" calipers.
Apex, I'd imagine, doesn't want the liability of people saying their wheels caused "damage" to their car.
I'm not saying 19s are for everyone. I however bought my car to play with it, and for a lot of those play things, the 19s are better from a performance and tire selection standpoint.
Oh, and just to cover this, I'm talking custom 19s.... Mine are from BC Forged. I have steel brakes, but have mounted them up to PCCB cars to verify fitment.

So you are modifying your 19" statement with custom 19". Also fitting them on a PCCB equipped car, did you then drive it? I would think that dynamics as well as wheel weight placement would come into play. All it would take is for a weight to loosen and shift and ...... You cannot compare the steel brakes on the GT4 with the ones fitted to the GT4RS due to them being larger; 380 mm vs 408 mm (1 mm extra room over the 410 mm PCCBs with radius being the factor and NOT diameter).

In the end, it sounds like 19s aren’t something you’d use, and that’s fine. However, for a lot of autocross and track folks, they have their benefits as stated previously.
And yes, I have friends with 19s that autocross with them on both GT4s and GT3s with PCCB.

Hey Ron, what offset do you have on your wheels? Also, what else has been upgraded and or tweaked on your suspension to accommodate the 265/305 setup? Wouldn't mind comparing notes as I run the same tires and still adjusting a bit to alleviate a slight rub on the fender lip.
What part of Seattle are you from? I grew up on Mercer Island many moons ago.

I ran 19s on my 981. The wheels were CCW TS12 made specifically for the GT4. Fronts were +51 Offset and rears +44. I ran 265 F and 295 R. No rubbing and plenty of brake caliper clearance.

I have two sets of wheels, both 19x8.5 and 19x11, built to fit in the “Street” class rules for SCCA autocross. We’re limited to +/- 7mm from stock. I went out on both sets, with one being 6mm out from stock and the other 3mm. So one set is 55/44 and the other is 58/47.
Nothing needs to be upgraded or tweaked to fit those sizes except maybe adding camber up front.
That completely depends on wheel offset as well though. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Apex or someone saying those sizes didn’t fit on the wheels they offer.

Yes they fit, but when you add a bunch of shim to get the -3.0/2.8 camber that I have and with offsets of I believe 50/48 for my wheels, the tires stick out a little bit. Then you have to grind down the edge of the TPC toe links to get them to fit inside the wheel barrel. The stock rims and tires appear to fit fine with all of that camber though.

I'm referring to what you and I run. On my 981, which is the same suspension, I ran 19x8.5's with a 54mm, rears were 11's with 45mm offset and there were no issues, no tire rub even with a 275/35-19 front and 305/30-19 rear BFG Rival 1.5.
Can all you guys talking wheel offsets and brakes start another thread and leave this one to the new RS please.
If you go back to the old 981 blog you'll find an endless discussion of wheels and brakes to satisfy you for hours and hours.
I will do Weissach package just for some of the carbon bits. What they heck, I'll do PTS, too. Can careless about weight and negligible performance of package. Will likely add the CXX GT2 RS hood stripe too. Now, it's just a matter of getting an allocation from the Porsche Fairies.
I think Porsche knows that most buyers that are lucky enough to get an allocation won't be shy about piling on huge margin cosmetic options like PTS and Weissach...
