And are they wrong? As soon as Schmee or whomever posts up a video, here we are linking to it and watching it...

*Every* manufacturer is doing the same thing, putting YT influencers at the front of the line... Go look at any hot new car in the past year or so, even ones that probably have little interest to those here (eg: Ford Bronco, C8, Rivian) and it is the SAME exact story and same complaint... Not saying it's right, just that it definitely isn't a "Porsche" thing.

Remember when Porsche gave **** about Enthusiasts? At this point...I'm starting to have a tough time remembering that now.

Also, you're correct there was a time when Porsche reached out to buyers particularly GT3/GT3 RS buyers - that has dropped away markedly and in line with the very large production runs they do for these cars. There was a time when they produced a few hundred GT/RS models - those numbers are now measured in the many thousands and in the case of a series run GT3, in excess of 10,000 units (per series).
In other words they like to fan the flames to keep the prices up even though GT division products have become mainstream and are now mass produced, production line cars.
Moreover, thick youtubers don't ask challenging questions and just regurgitate the marketing materials provided by Porsche. Youtuber gets easy clicks, Porsche gets near free and non-challenging marketing.

On the GT4 RS: as much as I instantly fell in love with it seeing the spec and driving the car itself - the more videos I watch of it the more the interior sound is starting to grate. It might be too much of a good thing long term for my ears.

I'd hardly say Porsche are pandering to schmee, they didn't even give him a loaner, he had to do the video using a customers car. And he got a couple of GT4's previously, which I would say qualifies him got getting a GT4RS. I find him annoying and don't like his content, however it all checks out to me.
There are some great car reviewers coming out of youtube, i rate the straight pipes, throttle house and savage gesse, not sure if you would call them influencers, but they aren't chris harris, catchpole or metcalfe.

I think the Spyder RS might be the sweet spot in that regard. Anything over 100db in the cabin will get old quickly.

What i hear so far from owners and friends who drove it on the track it is. After several hours you basically are fed up with, at least if you are driving spirited. The solution is simple imo, since a while now i take noise cancelling headphones with me on long Autobahn trips and put them on from time to time, be it the 997 GTS or the 993. It's MUCH more pleaseant. And on the track under the helmet it's another story anyhow.

My wife will LOVE ridding in the passenger seat in this car. I've prepared her by telling her it will be necessary to wear some bluetooth headphones. She seemed to like the idea a lot. Hmm?. I guess now she can listen to whatever self help podcast she wishes, without APPEARING to be totally disinterested in whatever crazy thing I'm doing behind the wheel at the time. Ha Ha
