Probably because this engine has been around for a while by now and used in a bunch of cars. So it's not really news.

Please remember, I'm a Cayman guy - have not spent 1 minute reading about GT3s. All I know is it goes to 9,000 rpms and has much more expense internals (because many people on this thread said Porsche would not put a GT3 engine in a GT4RS because it is too expensive). What makes it expensive, what makes it a race engine - is it the same engine used in the GT3R race car??
The GT cars are designed, built, marketed, and sold as track cars. They're meant to drive to the track, get driven hard, and drive home. And then do it again and again. The 992 GT3, 991.2 GT3, 991.2 GT3RS, and respective Cup Car and Clubsport models... and now the 718 GT4RS all have *basically* the same engine and it's derived from the 911 GT3 R race car. My understanding is that it's so Porsche can keep up with homologation approval.

As far as the inner workings of the engine, I recommend heading to the 991 GT3 forum and start reading lol. Tons of info there.

I'm sure there will be some morons who will pay $100k-$150k ADMs because they have to car now. Once the GT3RS comes out, that'll be the next hot toy all of them will be drooling over. I'm happy to wait for a MY23 car.

Questions of the day.

Why does the WP option not include the CF on the window triangles?

How many who order WP overlook that tidbit?

From those cutaways in Porsche Website you will see that none of the GT4 exhaust options will work on the GT4RS......the OAP don't have the divided path at the end...it's in the muffler. Muffler does looks similar to GT4 internally.

Also...where's the external oil tank?????

I didn't but will pass on those anyway as I always use the AWE diffuser to minimize wind buffeting.

You do that and might just interfere with the airflow for the inlet now considering that those little diffusers direct the air away from the side, disrupt the airflow which causes the buffeting in the first place..

Looks like it just has one throttle body instead of individual ones.

If you look further down the intake manifold close to the head you will see the individual butterflies.....that main butterfly on the top might be part of the dual path intake manifold

Cut away doesn't show all because it's cut at different layers. However, one on top and then three each side. Cut away believe shows the top and one on the side.

Wow! Great find!! VERY interesting on the intake side.

Despite the revolutionary window vent intakes, the intake manifold is still the same basic design as a regular 4.0 GT4/GTS. The intake manifold features a huge collector that lives directly above the engine. This arrangement is less than ideal for power as intake air will tend to dwell there in that big box getting hot. I guess it is slightly better than the 4.0 GT4/GTS intake as the GT4RS intake manifold is plastic, and the 4.0 GT4/GTS intake manifold is metal, which would retain more heat. Then even more surprising - the GT4RS still has the relatively short intake runners off of the collector box to each cylinder, just like the 4.0 GT4/GTS has. The short intake runners can be better for torque, but they give up top end power.

I'm surprised how similar the design of the intake manifold is on the GT4RS vs the 4.0 GT4/GTS. And I think in both cases, Porsche left some power on the table with this intake manifold design.
