PDK, look the right hand of the driver approaching the karussel, it is fixed on the steering wheel.

It’s 100% PDK listening to the fast up-shifts before the karusell...2-3-4 then 4-3-2...too rapid to be a manual.
I’d also bet it’s the 7 speed PDK-S.
No 8 speed unless 2-3-4 is exactly the same ratios of the Gt3 (very strange) I used to own and drove there plenty of times.
Engine could be the 4.0 of the Gt4 but it’s far louder: easily it fits a titanium backbox like they did with the 991.2 RS (need something to justify the price jump!)

Agree that it's PDK. 7 speed PDK-S is likely.

Disagree on engine. It's an RS, Porsche doesn't have to do that much to get people to open their wallets. Other than extra aero, a couple modestly lighter parts, and a 20-25hp bump, historically not much has separated GT from RS variants.
Also the current motorsport derived 991.2 GT3/RS engines are very expensive. Porsche will maintain the 911 top dog hierarchy and most importantly their own profit margin, by just optimizing the current GT4 engine, in particular by increasing the torque because PDK-S can handle it, while the 981/718 manual is only rated to 309 torque, which is why the 718 GT4 has the same max torque as the original GT4, (though the top of the torque curve is broader in the 718).

Totally agree, we’re saying the same thing!

I'm worried it's neither manual or pdk+s...which leaves the unathletic, pdk... and another reason to sandbag potential greatness.

I really hope not. The Achilles heel of both the 918 and 718 GT4 is the non special gearbox. Both the high gearing, and the 309 torque limitation of the manual, really hold back the GT4. Would be a shame if they did the same thing to the GT4RS and just gave it a regular PDK, because PDK-S is on an entirely different level. It is night and day different from regular PDK. I literally would never own a non manual Porsche that didn't have PDK-S, it is soooooooo much better than regular PDK.

I wonder how much of that is software related? As in, could it be modified on a regular PDK car?

Not a PDK guy here. What's the difference between PDK and PDK-S? Which models have which?

The torque limitation is a convienent crutch to lean on for keeping the GT4 under performing so the 911 sacred cow can remain protected.

The limitation is the clutch, not the transmission itself, Deman's 4.5L upgrade uses a stronger clutch so it doesn't slip.

I also appreciate and like to learn more details in tangible way why PDKs is sooooooo much better than ordinary PDK?

try to find some design differences between PDKs and PDK with no luck yet....

I read the gearbox manufacturer set the torque limit spec and wont warrenty if Porsche push it past that spec. Dosn't mean the gearbox cant take it or they cant make a stronger one but thats what we got in the GT4.
So unless there is a different gearbox in the GT4RS, it will be bad news for us.

Basically nail in the coffin for a manual 4RS. They wont launch one with the same torque as a GT4.
