Regardless, I'd bet vital parts of my anatomy there will be no manual option for the RS.

And FWIW, I wasn't thinking of the manual for the GT4 RS, but rather the rumored Spyder RS/SE

Based on the sounds of that video, it definitely does NOT sound like a GT3 derived motor, it sounds like the current GT4 motor with added HP.

I’m not sure how you can be so definitive, when the orientation of the drivetrain will necessitate a totally different exhaust for the two platforms (several feet longer exhaust in the GT4).

You just save a chunk of $$$$$$$$!!!!!

The issue with the GT4RS is pricing...how is PAG going to price this thing? Will they skip adding substantial improvements over a GT4 to keep price down or add them and put it too close to a GT3?
The rumor from the GM at my dealer is that base will be well above a high spec GT4.....so the question is: Will the difference be enough to warrant going 4RS or 992 GT3. At these price level you really need a huge chuck of difference to make it worth.

If the numbers and lap times are close to the GT3 then it will be VERY desirable, regardless of price. Everyone knows that the mid-engine platform is superior to the rear engine for dynamics and at the limit handling. If the GT4 RS's numbers get you close to the GT3, I think it would more desirable than the GT3.

I guess I’m one of the ignorant ones you didn’t account for. I find the rear engined handling more predictable, progressive, and enjoyable at the limit.

Remember the figure skater who spins far faster when she brings her outstretched arms into her chest (concentrating the mass near the axis of rotation)…

I absolutely agree with that. But even if the suspensions were identical on both cars, a mid-engined car tends to spin far more suddenly once it loses traction (just the nature of low polar moment of inertia - having its weight concentrated within the wheelbase). However, it's also what makes a mid-engined car more nimble and eager to change direction at 9/10ths.

Your example should only come into play with all systems off.
