drove down to COTA this morning to watch the Sprint X race and see the mod, take some pictures
the #47 won the race as well as yesterday's race (has the new mod), the #46 is the old style without the mod (as is the #28 RS1 car)
seems like you wouldn't be able to use the car as a daily driver with this mod
about 30 cars in the field (McLaren, Audi, Ginettea, KTM Aston Martin (finished second) and BMW M4 (finished 3rd)
Would u know if this side window intake is Porsche Motorsport upgrade? My 718 Clubsport MR is a January 2020 build and did not come with this.
Assuming this is aftermarket for those running in SRO as it's been approved there?
Any indication of what the side window intake upgrade cost?
My GT4 with mods can't match a 991.2 GT3 time (usually 1-2 sec slower), similar driver skills with me driving the heck out of the GT4 on Pirelli DHs.
The 718 GT4 my close the gap but will never match the .2 GT3/RS level of performance.... as Grant says the level of the parts used on the GT3/RS is way higher than the Gt4 (718 and 981).
I also agree with him on the handling characteristics once you are above 90%.....the rear engine with the RWS and multi-link provides a huge advantage.
You are getting to the point of reasoning why I'm very skeptical of a GT4RS.....it's a very tight fit on PAG lineup and the price delta between it and a GT3 will be so small you might as well go for it....be that 991.2 or 992.

Good points. If the the GT4RS price is anywhere close to a 991.2 GT3, then the 991.2 GT3 is the car to have if you plan to really track it.
I support Grants statement. I loved and tracked a 987.2 Boxster S for a few years.
Go kart handling was so fun. She was a joy to drive all over, fun on back roads, fun on track, until I was pushing it over 90%, at which point I would spin much more often than I do in a 911. Much harder to truly chase the limit in that platform. If you truly want to track seriously and regularly, then a 991 GT3 is a much better car.
But for fun canyon/backroads carving, and going 50-90% speed on a track, the GT4RS would be impossible to beat.
Will be interesting to see the final price of the GT4RS vs a 991.2 GT3.....or a 991.1 GT3.
I'm a slow learner. But happy to learn it's a bolt on to existing 718 Clubsports.
Having said that I'm 100% certain it's overkill for my PCA DE and club racing days.

Yeah, I'm curious to know what the performance gain is. I don't think there's a big gain to be had with the panel filters over the cones, the only thing I could see is that maybe routing outside the engine compartment reduces aits?

sorry, the responses I got were "it keeps the temperatures down" and "it makes more power (big smile)" and when asked how much it weighs, "enough"
