Here is the latest from the ring today. It seemshere are two potentially different models running around the ring. Different air scoops, different wings, different wheels. I wonder if the car with 5 lug wheels is a GT4 update and the other one the RS.

GT4RS = 5 lug and GT4RS MR = CL?

The MR would be the same GT4RS tuned (lightly) by Manthey Racing, not a specific Porsche product...Also, Manthey doesn't go around changing from 5 bolt to CL.
If this thing does get the green light it will be CL (unfortunately).

Maybe CL is standard and 5 lug is a zero cost option just like in Turbo S and Carrera GTS.

IMO, CL and PDK-only are going to be unavoidable. I just hope they don't tame all the cool aero bits too much.

Yeah these purported "in the know" or "insiders" really have no credibility. Wondering if we're still seeing testing on the N-ring this release may be further away than originally anticipated?

The fender vents should have a tangible impact on the front downforce, right? Letting all that air escape?

Is it weird that NONE of the cars have ever been seen with them uncovered? Wouldn't they need to be open to properly test and balance the front and rear downforce?

At the same time they could be testing other aspects such as any appreciable gains vs cost... trying other ways to balance the front end aerodynamically.

They already have the NACA ducts on the hood which channel air to the front brakes but also help front downforce.....same as in the 991 GT3RS.
BTW...this could easily be retrofitted to a regular GT4 if you don't mind the $$$$$$$

Unfortunately, they are only designed to cool the front brakes, not downforce.

I'm not sure if easy is the word I would use for this retrofit, AFAIK I'm 1 of 2 owners that have actually done this on a 3RS and it was no small feat.

Brake cooling is important but you need to vent the extra air from the wheel well hence fender vents or open behind the tyre (as per a number of GT3 cars). The extra air rushing in creates lift and stuffs up under floor airflow.

Guess I worded my post the wrong way...but by eliminating the lower brake cooling channels and moving brake cooling to the NACA ducts it does clean up to underbody aerodynamics, reducing drag which allows Porsche to concentrate on downforce and airflow on the front and under body.
I imagine the retrofit could be done by looking at the parts catalog and comparing a GT4 to a GT3RS....so not so easy, guess we will have to wait for the GT4RS.
