Nico Rosberg Tests Porsche Taycan, 911 GT2 RS on Track

When you’re a former Formula One champ, you get lots of special privileges, like driving a trio of modern Porsche classics.

Most of us mere mortals are watching from the sidelines, simply waiting for our chance to drive the latest Porsche classics. This of course, includes goodies like the all-electric Porsche Taycan (formerly known as the Mission E). And perhaps more so, the latest iteration of the 911 GT2 RS. But when you’re German-Finnish Formula One hot shoe Nico Rosberg, you have, shall we say, special privileges. Like the opportunity to try out both of the aforementioned rides before most everyone else.

At least he recorded the whole thing for us to enjoy. Plus, Rosberg is more than happy to share his impressions of the Porsche Taycan, GT2 RS, and Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid with us. Well, after he gets a VIP tour of the Porsche Museum that is. Hilariously enough, Rosberg nearly loses it after his stabbing the pedal in the Panamera when the boost kicks in. But then it’s time to slip behind the wheel of the much-anticipated Mission E, ahem, Porsche Taycan.

Sadly, Porsche wouldn’t let us peek inside the pre-production prototype, but Rosberg does share some driving impressions. “It’s has that proper Porsche sports car feeling. Acceleration is just awesome. Even though it’s a bit heavier than some other cars, you have great cornering and everything. Really perfect, the way it should be.” Which is pretty much in line with what we’ve heard from others that have gotten this rare opportunity thus far.

After that super secretive and highly guarded test drive, it’s time to unleash a little and have some fun. And what better car to do that in than the insane 911 GT2 RS? So what does Rosberg think after one singular hot lap? “Amazing. This is just a race car. Just a complete race car. On the edge, I think you could see that.” Quite an end to an amazing day, we’d say!
