S/T Suspension Programming - GT3 update??
As part of my S/T clone project, I've been looking at the differences in suspension between the S/T and the standard GT3. From all reports, the S/T dampening is vastly superior to the 992 GT3. I've done a bit of research, and the part numbers for the S/T chassis ECU as well as the shock absorbers are identical to the GT3, and thus the difference must be only programming.
To really figure that out, I'm wondering if there is an S/T owner that would let one of us with PIWIS run a VAL - this simply reads the configuration of all the ECUs - doesn't write or change anything. If we had a VAL, we could probably figure out how to program the standard GT3s with the S/T dampening. I'm more than willing to travel a few hours to pull the S/T VAL - either in SoCal or in the Jackson Hole Wyoming area / Salt Lake City. Hopefully we can find a cooperative lucky S/T owner that will help us crack this nut so we can all benefit . . .
Please DM me if you know anyone with an S/T that would be willing to let us do a read. . .
thanks!!

Shout of the @f4bones for getting this thread started and to @rnlst_log who is an absolute wizard with this stuff.
Mars did his thing earlier this evening and I just took the car out for a drive. Holy S***! The results are night and day. Just got back from a 400 mile trip this weekend earlier this morning. I also have just logged over 11k miles so I know exactly how the car feels.
Not even kidding I noticed the difference as soon as the front wheels touched the street coming off my driveway. I’ve done that hundreds of times and it just felt plush this time. All the imperfections in the road around my house I purposely drove over and I can say moving forward there’s no need to avoid some of them any longer.
The reviewers were right. AP was right. They really dialed in the suspension and I see why it was tested in Italy for as long as it was on those crappy roads. At slow speeds there’s no longer a rocking motion from side to side. It just eats up bumps. The pasm button works just fine so if there’s any extra stiffness needed it’s there at a push of a button. Not sure I will ever use it again though as I don’t see a need on the road.
Lastly and I wasn’t expecting this. I Got some green dials on the dash along with something I didn’t even know was possible. Tire temp read out! I hated that this car didn’t have it. I guess it does : )
Thank you @rnlst_log once again!

I think you may need to use a newer version of PIWIS. I found 4 different suspension settings. When I clicked the comfort chassis option the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and returned a lot of errors. Might even need to change vehicle to ST in maintenance of information, code, then return back to GT3.

A worthwhile endeavor. Having put in a lot of miles on both it’s truly shocking how much better the road manners are with the S/T. However, it’s not just the flywheel and suspension changes that make the S/T so good. The entire package of changes was obviously massaged and fine turned for quite awhile to make it feel so dang good. It’s not just a parts special car like some here seem to rant on about constantly.

Also (while not fact) I bet the bushing set is different as well. When MFG. changes something suspension wise on models (even if the part numbers are the same) , there are still many other factors that could change. The suspension system is made up of the tires, bushing set, sway bars, shocks, bump stops, and for PASM the software. Track width can play a role too

For sure LOTs of interest in this project and with @rnlst_log and @718socal on the clock, chances are very good we will figure it out.
