What is the best way to ascertain the options and authenticity if a guy says he does not have the COA or build sheet?

Get the VIN # and pull a build sheet.

Authenticity? Not many bootleg Porsche's out there.

That did it thanks. Amazing how many people think they have stuff not listed.

Not really... The percentage of owners that are as knowledgable as the average Rennlister is low. As knowledgable about 991 builds and options as the folks on this thread? Maybe a few percent at best.

Agreed. Having the means and will to purchase something doesn't impart any knowledge about it.

Thankfully, Porsche has left the dealer portal open for pulling build sheets. With most brands, you have to make do with 3rd party VIN decoders.
I used this one:
https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Porsche

Looked good but is/are there something better?

Another one Sold! Thanks for the help everyone, I just picked up a 2015 S with only 8,600 miles on it.

I wanted to see the GTS that STG posted earlier at the mercedes dealer but it was already sold! Wow that was fast. But then I saw they had a 2015 S which was what I was looking for!

About the same options list as the Beverly Hills one I posted, except this one does have the SC option too. Picked up the 2015 for a lot less than what BHP was asking for on their 2014 with nearly 20K miles. Just did a PPI on it and everything passed/looked brand new!

Thanks for the pointers everyone! It's an amazing car, and this has been a very helpful thread!

The red one also has the same lip.
R_R, might be some confusion between our 2 cars, Frank's (the GR C2 "Base") does have SPASM, as well as PSE, SC, and 7MT. Mine, (the RY C2S) also has SPASM, as well as SC, PSE, PDK, and PDCC. So yes, both cars have the SPASM front lip. Hope that clears it up.

Nice "base" targa build. Any thoughts on what it's really worth?

It's pretty easy to find examples of nice cars that are wildly overpriced, but that's not really the point of this thread.

$117K sticker, $107K ask. That's a $10K, 8.5% discount on a two year old, 12,000 mile car. You can get a bigger discount than that on a brand new, leftover 2016 or 2017. And it's very much a nothing special car... (PDK without sport chrono, for one)

The target price on that car is light years from their asking price, I predict zero possibility of negotiating a 'hot' deal on that one. At least $20K overpriced? They talk about the Targa like it has the rarity / price bump of a GTS/GT3, absolutely not the case.
