Hi Matt
I've been following your interesting journal and I have to admit seeing pictures of your car convinced me to go for Sapphire Blue as oppose to any other colour so thanks for the good work and knowledge sharing.
I'm expecting my car in two weeks, asked the dealer not to wash the car just remove the protection film and check the car. Once I pick her up I would like to clean/ decontaminate the paint as you did on yours. What would you recommend to use to remove the film glue residue? Any other advise please?
Thanks in advance

I use these for adhesives depending on the job. I would guess you won't have much residue to worry about. Citrus Power will most likely take anything off you need. Most of the sticky stuff will be on the interior windows. Use the 3M stuff and a razor blade.
Auto Finesse Citrus Power for the light stuff:

Auto Finesse Obliterate for the medium stuff:

I don't know what's going on with AF. Auto Geek and Detailer's Domain seem to not have this stuff in stock. Let me know if you figure out who has it.
3M Citrus Bases for the heavy stuff:

Feel free to hit me up as you're going through the correction process. I think it's super fun bonding time with you new ride. Send me an email and let me know what days you're doing it. I'll give you my phone number as a life line.

I've been following your postings for a month now, mostly because of your garage improvements. It has motivated me seriously.
Got samples from both RaceDeck and SwissTrax -- decided on SwissTrax and placed the big order last week. Went with Silver Gray, instead of Slate Gray, but also with the black accent tiles.
Also have planned the cabinets and looked closely at what you have done. Really like it, most likely will go with them (Saber Magnum) in silver too. So, you have influenced me, just not about car color.
Seriously, have a buddy who got a Turbo S in sapphire blue. The car is really set off with the yellow calibers over the red ones......

Awesome man! Don't you agree that the SwissTrax better? I never like plastic tiles because all I knew was RaceDeck. The more substantial SwissTrax is much better in my opinion.
For the money, I'm so pleased with the Saber Cabinets. I really want Lista some day, but they just cost so much money.

Center Lock Removal and Opti-Coating the Wheels
I finally decided to get the tools necessary to remove the wheels and coat them. The amount of chipping on the wheels is really annoying, but I decided to coat them anyway. I've been told by many that the CL removal was really difficult. I was surprised how easy it was. I thought I bought the breaker bar/torque wrench combo but clicked the wrong link. I ended up not needing the extra length. I guess I saved a hundred bucks.
I used Jeff's awesome tutorial video for the removal procedure.
This is a long one, so you may want to skip around.

Can't believe I watched (most) of all 3 videos. (and I agree with you, your garage is special, then again, I think your wife must be an angel)
Could not see the pitting/chips on the wheels. Hope the coating helps.
Everyone is different of course, I thought I wanted the black wheels, and ordered them on a 15 S63 I'm driving. Now don't like them, just too much/too black/too something. I'm thinking of having mine done back to something like your original color, similar to the earlier generation S63 I had.
Good luck, but think that tint on the wheels is great with your SBM.
