Thanks all for chiming in.

spicyypenguin: at least your TYD still recognizes that you have a Taycan on the way!
MyPorsche “forgot” my Taycan re TYD once it landed in Benicia. So only info/update I get is from my sales guy.
I have read other posts to suggest that TYD is not exactly a NASA-quality “tracking device”!

991carreradriver: You got it right! Not leasing. But neither have I paid them anything other than a $5K deposit, and I currently own 2-911’s and a Macan so I am not exactly in P-car withdrawal nor am I stranded. Not sure who I would hold accountable, or if I knew that if ranting at anyone over the phone would accomplish much. No car is better than a lemon (cf. Taycan forum post about the T4S lemon…).
Yeah, the timeline doesn’t reflect well on Porsche but what is there really to do about it? I ordered my first build-to-spec Porsche, a 2018 991.2 C2GTS Cab, back in April of 2017 and it took 7 months to arrive at the dealer. That was before anyone had even heard of the term “COVID”. So production delays do not look new to me even pre-pandemic.
The supply chain has perhaps been over-blamed for every problem we see around us, but the automotive mfr’s seem as hard or harder hit than most product categories. Maybe reflects the complicated symphony of sourcing so many components from various places. Like Ukrainian wiring harnesses during a war. Or chips from Taiwan. Or a Ro-Ro catching fire and sinking mid-Atlantic. My wife’s Bolt has been under a main battery recall for a year with no replacement timeline in sight. We could speculate forever about the potential weak links in a long and branching chain.
Interesting point about the depreciation question. How much material difference do you think there is between MY2022 and MY2023? A lot of it seems to be firmware which everyone is getting upgraded, insofar as the hardware does not seem to have changed that much from 2020 to 2023. Am I missing an important design/fabrication detail?

According to the local dealership, the order to delivery is now one year++.

Nothing like getting a 2022 in 2024.

Sorry to hear you ordered from Bellevue. Since auto nation takeover they never give good deals and my experience with service has been mediocre at best.

I last bought a GTS from them in 2010 but have been buying elsewhere and getting great discounts on all my cars including 5% off MSRP on my 2022 TaycanTurbo S in paint to sample voodoo blue. Anyway. I digress.

Weird. Link in months old email still connects me to TYD even though car has disappeared from MyPorsche website and app.
According to TYD, the car is allegedly (allegedly) scheduled to arrive at the dealer this Friday, 14 Oct!

My timeline is the same for Emden departure although, my dealer is on East coast and I’m through Davisville port. The only thing that makes me nervous is the current PWL shipping schedule has departure from Emden on 11/02. FYI, according to their schedule they are not showing any stops in Benicia. All the ships go from Houston to Veracruz. Not trying to antagonize, just sharing my current info. I continually have to gather and assess info on my own since SA and GM (claim to) know nothing helpful. Sincerely, good luck.

Crap, my Taycan delivery date got pushed back another week to 12/23 at PECLA. I really want to pay for the car by 12/31/22 so I get the tax credit and take the bonus depreciation on it.

Default Credit for electric cars

Once the brilliant president signed the bill in August there are no rebates for any Porsche. You had to have certain documents signed prior to the buffoon signing his new bill in August. All Porsche dealers were sent a note to this change in early August from Germany

And don't forget, you are getting a 2021-2022 in 2023 or 2024. Your car, driven off the showroom floor, would be already one or two years-old. Sans the 2023 technologies. But with two years of depreciation.

You need to decide. He's Brilliant or is a buffoon?

Moot point. Has to be made in the USA.

Autonation is the Wally World or Micky D auto dealerships. Micky D is not known for Haute cuisine, Wally World is not epitome of customer service.

You lead a charmed life. 20% above MSRP is about the norm. They say "we sell at MSRP" but add various dealer markup fees. Latest negotiation was for new 2023, MSRP but I had to buy their extended warranty.

I am in the same boat. Ordered by GTS in November 2021. My Freeze date was March 2022. Car was completed 7/8/22 and has been “ready for transport” since then. Multiple calls to the dealer and PNCA have not provided any details. TYD shows it is supposed to be on vessel 11/11, but I feel less and less optimistic. TYD just today showed another 7 days of delay once the car has landed in RI. I feel less and less optimistic that I will be able to get it this year. So looking more and more like they will deliver a 2022 model year in CY 2023.

I feel your pain. Accepting 2021 Tech (in this most technically sophisticated vehicle, including about three software updates) in 2023 is a total bummer. Especially since there’s quite a few latest tech 2023s available.

The car qualifies it has it exceeds the 6,000 gross carrying weight requirement and it fits the type of vehicle someone in my profession (realtor) would drive. If I was in construction, I wouldn't reasonably argue that it was a business vehicle. As long as I pay for the car by 12/31/22 I will be able to take 100% bonus depreciation on the car (what I paid for it) against my business income in 2022. When I sell the car, I will pick up income in the amount of the net sales price. I'm also a CPA besides being a realtor so I read things like the link below very carefully.

https://taxsaversonline.com/porsche-...tax-write-off/

I'll also get the $7,500 federal tax credit as my $10,000 deposit was non-refundable and I have a signed non-refundable document which I signed in May that specifically states that the deposit is fully non-refundable if I don't complete the transaction so I'm grandfathered in under the old laws.
