The plug-in-electric (BEV, PHEV) stats for vehicle sales in the USA in 2019 so far (January-August) show 94250 Model 3s and 21300 other Teslas (115550 Teslas).
From the other auto makers (traditional ICE-vehicle makers), they sold 56390 BEVs and 53413 PHEVs. It's interesting that, outside of Tesla purchases, the number of BEVs sold vs. PHEVs sold is almost equal. It will be interesting to see this ratio in 1, 2, 3 years from now...

At least that's what I see in my neck of wood.

Yeah, Porsche for those who still like and know how to drive, Tesla for those seeking riding lounges.

I would ask how much experience you have driving any Teslas in which to form this opinion, and which models? Genuinely curious.

My experience driving EVs is one of isolation and heavy handling - always reminds me of a golf-cart.

But... my comment above was referring to the typical Tesla owner, who in large numbers aspire for a disconnected, self-driving, lounge experience.

I think there is some truth to that.

I noticed you NEVER mention which Tesla models you have driven since no-one else that I ever read a review of refers the Model 3P as a golf-cart in driving it.

There is definitely truth in it. Especially in, um, certain areas of the country.

But judging by the owners I have met and interacted with, I would not rate it as typical. Perhaps the most vocal.

Anyone who has driven a Tesla knows that statement is false. Between my 6 speed Boxster S and Model 3 I always take the Tesla for the driving fun. Traditional car owners do not realize the row your own boat thing is just a necessary evil to remedy the fundamental deficiency of ICE's lack of torque supply. The one pedal driving coupled with instantaneous and continuous torque that you can practically "place" the car anywhere you want to is what I would call real driving. You need to give it a try.

Feel free to enjoy a single gear motor. I do like the rhythm of gear shifting, either with conventional manual shift or sequential. I am glad you like it, just do not proselytize a change others are not interested in.

Huh? Wasn't that what you were trying to do to us? I couldn't care less what you like or not like to do. I already said Porsche is for traditional car drivers.

Likewise, I’m sorry you don’t like it, but don’t label and condem those who are.

Not for me. The "row your own boat thing" is not a necessary evil, it is process that I consider an art form. It is a large part of what makes up the great "driving experience" my 996 Turbo delivers. The overall level of man machine interface proficiency required to drive my Turbo well is challenging, and mastering and executing smoothly all aspects of driving the car is very satisfying.

I disagree; I call it boring.

i would agree with this. It is very satisfying. Hence the reason I bought a manual.

To me, the two things are not mutually exclusive. There is not just one way to drive and ENJOY a car. You might find it boring, but that doesn’t mean your opinion is a universal truth.
