I agree, the stripe is part of the Spyder'ness IMO. It also could have been presented a little nicer, more pics without top, clean things up a bit, etc. The undercarriage looks a bit rusty/salty and rear bumper repaint but despite all this I'm sure it will still do well.

Other than that the car is a perfect spec. Nothing you don't need added. Clean dashes are the best, on a manual car the SC is useless and adds weight.

Question: did these have the same undercoating/corrosion protection as the standard Boxsters? ie, not like a GT3 which has near none....

Crunchy is a good description! I'm sure it's situational, here in PA they salt as well but my car is off the roads for hibernation each year well before then. Still looks new underneath. I've never seen a reduction in undercoating mentioned for the Spyder, I'd reckon same as normal Boxster.

Yeah, fair enough. I lived in Boston for a while and know the damage that salt can do. And I used to spray my underbelly every week ...

Its that bridge season when its starting to get warm and its nice, and the snow piled up on roads is melting across roads... and that snow is piled in salt/chemicals that are now melting across the road....

The frunk carpet also has white moldy looking stains, I’m not sure what caused that. Undercarriage is a little rough too, this one has definitely seen some salt roads.

Still at the right price all of this can be rectified and you would have a Spyder with a great spec.

Seller isn't too engaged in the auction at this point. I can't bid on this car blind. The service records are shown, and Carfax is clean but shows sporadic services. And yes, the frunk looks like it has mold on it, the seats too, although that could just be dust.

Anyway... I don't think this one will sell strong, unengaged seller (so far) and too many questions to pay a premium price.

Agreed. The BaT process is so drawn out before an auction goes lives there's plenty of time and really no excuse for a seller to be unprepared and not show the car at its best. I'm sure there's still a decent car lurking there but not putting its best foot forward at all. I'll still be watching!

I'd say the frunk just has some wear in it to cause those white/thin spots. The corners are pretty light on black fabric padding, and can wear thin if you carry stuff around in the frunk.

I've always thought of a great business idea would be to have someone fly int to look at a car and do a PROPER THOUGHROUGH inspection. We're talking spending $2000 on a $75K car.
Paint metering, check for KNOWN ISSUES etc...

Just an idea... that keeps coming up.

No surprises (of the wrong kind).

Where have I heard this business idea before...? Oh right, a PPI! j/k. But if a good Porsche shop is local to any car, they'll generally get as in depth as one is willing to pay.

Sorry, I've had PPI's that missed a ton of stuff, both from Porsche dealerships. Yes, I got the obvious stuff of % tire wear, brake pads etc... but both of them missed the minute stuff - the nitty-gritty of the undercarage, the paint chips on the hood, the condition of the windshiefl glass, door dings, etc...

There's the problem. Gotta go to specialists. I've used Porsche dealers in the past too and they basically take your $385 or whatever they charge and give you brake and tire readings as you said. Effectively useless and a waste of everyone's time. Gotta use a P car specialist, I haven't never been let down since.

I’ve also had mixed luck with PPI’s from specialists. At this point I don’t bother with PPI’s and do my own due diligence. The seller will have to put more effort into the sale but nothing crazy or time consuming. Granted I’ve amassed enough knowledge on the cars I’m purchasing that I am usually the one explaining what to look for to the person that would be performing a PPI. I recently bought a 100k mile Cayenne for our daughter and the dealer sales guy was awesome. He had the tech’s check everything I requested and also provided the pictures I requested. When I laid eyes on it there were no surprises, everything checked out and I bought it. I had a post purchase PPI with my local shop and they confirmed everything the dealer stated.

I’ve helped others too but again there’s always a gamble unless you go see the car in person so I can understand the point made above absolute sending out an expert to see a car. In the right hands a camera can hide a significant amount of wear/tear and issues. It’s almost comical at times when a car on BAT with 100k miles has zero flaws in 97% of the pictures. I’ve seen enough of these BAT cars in person to know that the photographers should be paid much more for the magic they perform.

Ppis are generally **** unless you know the shop very well and they know you. No thanks. Did one ppi on the 25+ porsches I’ve owned. It wasn’t worth it.
