Given that I don't have side windows it is unlikely that I will be doing much driving in the rain. And assuming that I go to a lexan windshield, I was wondering if it makes sense to keep the windshield wipers.

What are other drivers doing?
I removed mine and later regretted it. The entire assembly weighed 5 lbs. I reinstalled it with one wiper on the driver's side.

I would also be curious if it's ok to use wipers on a lexan windshield. Not that I have one yet.

mjj, I'm also in the middle of a SPB build (to replace the one I'm selling) so holler if you have any questions.

I learned the hard way that it would be useful to keep the defroster too

I'm planning on carrying the bits to reinstall the wipers if needed. Since it requires four bolts I suspect it is only a half hour job. 6 pounds up high is worth saving IMHO.

I do not believe that lexan and wipers are a smart combination unless you've got a BIG budget.

I started a thread a while back with the same question. You can read it here:

Anyone run solid (not semi solid) engine/trans mounts on a boxster? I've seen a few warnings not to about rattling the electronics, but the cup has solid mounts and I've run them on all my track cars in the past with no issue. I'm wondering if this is a real issue? What's the problem?

If your talking SPB, solid mounts are not allowed per the rules.

"No urethane bushings or solid engine or transmission mounts are allowed", section 4 page 22.

Yea, I know they are verboten in spec box, just wondering what this conversation is about solid mounts causing electronic failures due to transmitted vibrations...

Nice looking car, Jim! Mike is right, you should tow out here & race it at TWS next month. You will love the track..

I am trying the long-shot of putting sponsorship together, if possible. I say long-shot because most companies already have their marketing & promotional budgets long established, so.... However, if I don't try, I might as well give up in life, which ain't gonna happen. There are a lot of rent-a-rides out there, but this is not one of them. They guy who would be my co-driver is the one who invited me. Quite an honor, considering who it is.

Anyway, don't hold your breath, but if you can point me in any useful directions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Dave, good luck, that would be living the dream. Do it while you can! Bucket lists get longer the older you get. Mike I do need to get out that way just need to get my schedules worked out, trying to put together a Pirelli cup race or two as well, trying to focus on driver skills this year.

That was unexpected. NASA Texas just talked to few of us at the last TWS DE.
