Looking to gauge interest for a run of flanges to allow mating the 16V 944S/S2/968 headers to the 951 crossover. I've worked with an engineer friend to design a replacement flange on the 951 crossover where it mates to the 16V headers. Already have a test piece out of mild steel verifying it matches 951 pipe spacing and 16V bolt pattern.
I have the ability to get the flanges produced but like everything, volume directly affects price. The quote I've received for 316SS (321SS is unavailable) is $62 if I order 5-9 and $50 for 10+. As a long term Rennlister, I'd happily sell them to anyone that is interested for my cost plus $5 for shipping CONUS. It'll probably be expensive, but for our friends in Europe and Australia if you pay actual shipping, they're yours for the same price.
Looking to make the order the first week of December 2015 for an anticipated delivery of early January 2016. For everyone interested, I will go final with the list of RL'ers on 29 November 2015 to determine cost. Then I will need everyone interested to paypal the cost for the flanges and shipping prior 4 December 2015. As much as I would love to, I can't tie up a couple hundred dollars hoping for reimbursement.

This flange would replace the existing flange on the 951 crossover. Due to the smaller size of the 16V header flanges, crush rings aren't an option for sealing. I'm getting quotes for copper gaskets, right now it looks like a copper gasket would be around $15.
Just an idea, if these are thick enough, hole for egt thermocouple would be exceptional.
They're the same thickness as the OEM 951 crossover flange, 1/2". I don't see any reason why you couldn't drill/tap a hole but why not use the CO2 bung further down?
Updated the first post to reflect who is interested. Like I posted above, at the end of this month I'll ask everyone that is interested to commit funds to secure their flanges and allow me to go forward with an order.
Since this would change the alignment of the crossover, the old flanges needs to be cut off and the new one welded on I assume?
No, nothing quite as barbaric as cutting the flange off. The flange on the crossover is welded internally. Just requires a bit of time with a die grinder to remove the welds and the flange will come off with a few taps from a hammer.
After carefully considering the best way to mesh the 16V and 951 exhaust components, I believe this is the easiest way to do it. Cost was also a consideration and getting two flanges for the headers would be ~$100 vs ~$50-60 for the crossover flange.
Others have gone different routes including fabricating a new crossover. I don't have the fabrication skills to do that myself and I don't have the funds to be able to pay someone else to do it for me.
The nice part about this flange is that with the headers and a turbo bolted up, the tack welding it in place is almost idiot-proof.
Based on the interest so far, it looks like the cost will be $55/shipped. Hope to see a bit more interest and when it comes time a financial commitment so we can start a new wave of 16V turbo motor builds.

In my experience the only slight issue with that is that with everything bolted up (on the factory 951 system) it never quite lines up. You need everything slightly loose and then you wind it all up back together working your way round the various bolts. If you have the headers and headers to crossover points all tight but the turbo end loose the holes are normally offset to the right (I think from memory) and you need to slacken it all off to get it to bolts though at the turbo end first. I have done this quite a few times with different sets of headers, crossovers and it always seems the same.
I think this is intentional to allow for expansion in the metal when it all gets super hot. My worry when getting your alignment for welding from lining everything up cold is that you would then lose this room for expansion and when things heat up start putting pressure on the system and end up with cracking or other issues.
It is not to say it cannot work, just a concern I had when reading this and also when I considered doing similar work to my crossover to allow the use of a Garrett hotside housing. Different end of the pipe but similar issue. I know others have done it but I wonder how they got on with cracking over time.
