^ The prosecution rests its case.
(I never blamed Porsche for the hype, it's clearly just some market participants who fueled this tulip mania: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania)

I guess the bashing the 911R comments are out in full force now. Before it was just an implied. I think it is a great car. The 911R has a many features overlooked by the casual enthusiast, as well I believe it is the lightest modern 911 produced. The engine issue is overrated between the 911R and the GT3.2 for the vast majority of owners. Having read most of the threads pertaining to the previous engine problems for E and F and the early G series, unless you are tracking the crap out of your car at maximum revs it was an unlikely failure. The 911R was delivered with the late generation G series engine, which is in most of the RS cars, has not had any significant problems. While a lot of people will track their cars, I would say a lot and possibly a majority? of the GT3.2s will not be tracked and see mainly street duty, so while saying the new engine is a "game changer" most people will not notice a difference. Understanding that the focus for the 911R was for the road and not the track, an engine that thus far has been fine in the GT3RS, the hydraulic valve train would not bother me especially in the G Series engines and actually more appropriate in a road car. I have a GT3.2 coming so I'm interested to see what the practical difference is.

What point can't many understand here??
The 911R is a great model.
Many don't believe it's worth what they're going for on the secondary market. At MSRP, it's attractive.
It's a valid opinion isn't it?
Much of the other stuff is entertainment. Nobody have a sense of humor?

Your posts summed up my position better than I presented it. Thank you.

Current R owners have a vested interest in keeping R prices propped up, especially those who overpaid and now face the pain of either selling the car before the bubble bursts, or holding on to the car knowing that they overpaid (which may taint the enjoyment of owning it). Best scenario with the R is to have paid MSRP, feel lucky you have one, and enjoy driving the heck out of it, without being concerned with market prices.

I doubt the seriously doubt the 911R will approach the market value of the GT3.2 current pricing. If it does, I think we have a lot more things to worry about. There will be a lot better things and more important ways to spend your uncommitted capital. I would venture to say in that scenario the GT3.2 with 3000+ cars produced will not hold its value. No pixie dust there.

Not really. We've all got Google and the search box here; it isn't very difficult to see what the 911 R offers and I stand by my original statement. Just because you choose to ignore part of it either willfully or due to a lack of reading comprehension doesn't mean I'm gonna list for you on exact differences between a 991.1 & .2 or the couple go-fast parts the R has; some of which this car wasn't optioned with anyways... Next time why don't you include exactly what I said instead of quoting me out of context?
The heart of the new GT3 is actually better than the R - Porsche thinks so themselves.

It would be great to find out properly...

The jealousy is very strong in this thread.
