Yes. G2 head loosely termed refers to the version 2 G engine revisions installed in cars from July 2016 (late production GT3RS and all R) which incorporate DLC coated cam shaft lobes..

if you're dealer is in the U.S., then you are wrong and your dealer DOES NOT have any build slots.

I just looked today and nope, nothing on this car is listed.
Otherwise, ask him to provide you with a screen shot of the handling board. I bet he won't do that.

Perhaps he was referring to deliveries, which are expected to start late summer/early fall for North America.

From everything I've heard/read this is mostly likely scenario:

Same deal with the 911R last year, first customer cars got delivered around June to European customers.

Production basically starts around late April.

Dealers in Sweden are so confident it will be Geneve release that some of the people who got slots (and bought several other non GT cars) will be flown down to watch the release!

I am not in the US. I am in Europe. I was responding to an OP based in the U.K. And as I pointed out, my dealer has 4 confirmed allocations for 2017 with specific build months but not specific build days within those months yet. For me what's most important is that I have secured the first allocation in July. I don't articularly care what the specific build date is in a July, all I care about is that I have a July build and that I get the care by August. And I repeat again, dealers n Europe had had their allocations for the last couple of months.

more interestingly.. that looks like a regular gt2, not a gt2RS.. i say that because of the lower spoiler, not the RS type spoiler... this is an assumption on my part. front fender extensions also seem to confirm gt2 status?

also strange is the grill between the rear lights, which seems to have been discountined on the 991.2 gt3 model, as well as the gt3 991.1 front bumper, and rear lights. this just doesn't seem like a recent picture of a 991.2 car.. i'm genuinely confused by these pics.

so they aren't skipping the "regular" gt2 as previously speculated?

The premiere of the new Porsche 911 GT2 will be in 2017 and then come into the market as a 2018 model....

i should have noticed that.. yep makes more sense.. this pic just didn't compute at all.

On a positive note, I received some level 3-4 info from dealer today that there is talk they are doing something interesting with the calibration on the steering to improve feel. I'm taking this with grain of salt but passing it on.
