Smile Noticeable Progress :)

For the first time in a long time, made some progress that is actually making her look like a functional car.

Put the front bumper on after putting on new beading, the used rail from 928intl, replaced all securing hardware that was not NLA, installed headlight shaft & headlights, replaced headlight squirter hoses & nozzles, redid wiring on the wiper fluid pump, redid wiring for headlamps, replaced bulbs with LEDs from superbrightleds, put waterproof connectors for the lights. And painted & clear-coated all high-visibility metal between the radiator and the bumper. Doesn't match much of the other areas, but it's better than what it was.

Have the sidemarker sockets coming from 928intl, have some more mounting hardware to do, need to reassemble & mount the front spoilers. But really happy to have less parts laying around

I put new slider ***** and light in my AC/ Heater control unit
1984 928s.

Followed the directions on the AC relay post. Everything was pretty easy and straight forward. But did notice with the leather dash it was a little snug getting the beauty ring off that surround the AC control.

Fixed my parasitic battery drain (power window relay). Windows run faster too.

Then I drove it like I stole it.

More progress repairing my tree bruises:

Roger is getting me a new one from Germany. I will be enjoying the easy access to the AC drier.

finished the recovering of the passengers side rear quarter panel and dyed the other door armrest leather and vinyl light grey. An old fried back in Indiana has a quantity of black walnut stock, he 's going to send me enough for a center section between the end of forward and beginning of rear center console and a blank I can turn into a shift ****.

Tore into my sunroof hoping to raise up the front a hair...futzed with it for a few hours and realized the new velvet gasket going around it was not compressed enough so when I got the front up the back wouldn't work so well...so wound up being same as it was..but it still works fine...so no harm done there.

Put in Hans' cross brace...see Hans' cross brace thread for some Hot Cross-Brace Action!

Shoveled the most recent foot of snow from the driveway just forward of the garage door where the car is hibernating. Returned the smart battery maintainer after it spent a day connected to K's 4Runner that's getting a little respite due to deep snow. Honda has chains on it.

Seats will come out in the next week for a little moisturizing treatment.

Was doing the O2 sensor until the rain came yesterday.
Got cold and ugly fast when the rain came under the car on my back. Left it on the stands for the night. Dried off and back in the garage today. Will reset the MAF when the rain stops. Curious if the static Ohms test will change much after the blinker setup.

No pics today, but we installed ps pump, belt and res, alternator and belt, and got the temporary primer on the sanded-down spot rust areas. Just a few more hours of work....!

No work on the car while I move into larger quarters, after a good inspection. The new ball joint separator was the last straw.

I have been having an overheating issue with the Stepson.

I had installed a spare radiator on which I had a new end tank installed. It was the last thing I futzed with. Was that the cause? Nope.

The car acted as if it wasn't getting coolant flow into the engine. After the engine was warm, it acted as if as coolant DID get into the engine, it would get hot, steam, and then the steam pressure would force coolant back out through the reservoir. I checked coolant flow with the engine running. Hmmm. Doesn't seem to be much, if any coolant flow. Has my impeller come off my water pump? I've seen this personally. Okay then, let me remove the water pump to check. Was the water pump the cause of the overheating? Nope, the water pump is NOT the problem.

In all my years of working on all different kinds of cars, I have always tended to overthink and have problems with the KISS principle.(Keep It Simple Stupid). I have always heard of thermostats going bad, but I have NEVER seen one personally. Until now.

Damn it!

Default Canister "Y" connector R&R

While I had the front wheel well liners out to do the shocks, I noticed the "Y" connector to the charcoal canister was broke. They all break!
Did a quick R&R with new one from Roger. one of the easiest fixes!
