That's why I always hand over my phone and computer to my 10 year old.
Have to say I'm impressed with the throttle response of the gt350. Very easy to heel/toe.

For those that track, are you using cup2s or is there anything cheaper that is good?

Don't use MPSS that's a definite.

Bossing mentioned that Toyo R888 305 will fit on all four corners. I'm tempted to try them...(they price around $1,500 for the full set)

I won't be using Michelin SS on track. Those tires are mounted on the aftermarket need4speed wheels in the upside down picture. and will be my DD wheel/tires.
I'll run the stock gt350 wheels with some stickier rubber.
The new R888R seems very good but is not yet available in the US. I've been running Nittos on my 996. Not so sure about driving them in the road all the way to Road Atlanta. Might have to bite the bullet and pay up for one set of cup2s before the R888R show up in the spring.

Ran many sets of Cup2's but hate the price. Trying a set of re71r's on the 991 GT3 and so far so good. If you're running a square setup on the GT350, you might want to try a set of re71r's.

Isn't there a stop-sell, stop-use which was just issued by ford because of the oil line issue.. engine fire, oil starvation? I know dealers can't even demo the cars on their lots at the moment because of this.. have owners received a 991.1 Gt3-style "don't drive it" letter yet?

13,400 miles here and a full track weekend at Road Atlanta I still haven't caught fire - not sure what I'll do if they send me a letter saying not to drive it.

It's only for a range of production dates. The ones assembled outside of date range are fine for demo and sale.

I posted Ford's letter to dealerships a few pages back here... https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...l#post13701295

A LARGE amount over that build date range is affected... iirc over 8,000 GT350 units including R-models. I believe over 90% out there...

There is no official "stop use" notification from Ford to dealers nor owners (yet?) and as of now it's still a do not demo / do not deliver type of memorandum. Ford has not publicly nor officially stated not to drive the car. And maybe they won't due to possible ramifications/liability? until the remedy is released (target Q1 2017). Ugh.

Again here's the letter and the Ford VIN recall check is: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account...e/recalls.html

Hopefully! Run your VIN....

And much more info & details here including visual schematics on the possible lines/crimps affected: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67927

Look at Epiphany's posts.... http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/show...=67927&page=11

Btw Joe's car which burnt on the track due to oil spill was because of an improperly seated "snap ring"... not related to this recall.

Default Is there a message?

Will take a while to get used to the long hood and wide shoulders on track. Car felt very big and heavy.
Tonight while bored (in yet another hotel room) in Frankfurt thinking of better places to be...and came across the VIN on my car and it starts with 1FATP...
I am starting to wonder if there is a hidden message in there? 997rs4.0, is your car VIN the same way?....

OK...time to go to sleep...

Yes, mine starts with 1FA6 so must mean it's a fat pig.

Square setup

RE71-R very grippy but does go away from heat later in the session
AD08R Not quite as grippy as the RE71 but more heat tolerant
NT01 not the best in wet but the Cup 2 isn't very good in the wet either.

Thanks Peter,

Seems like it's either RE71 or cup2s for me. I actually think cup2s are ok if you get caught in some rain going to the track.

Just talked to Ford and my vin that finishes with 2185 is not affected by the recall.

Good to know - also is it possible to fit these on the stock wheels?
