Well, but most guessed it really wasn't a blown transmission, really from almost the very first reply posts.
Also, I don't believe any of us are certified Porsche mechanics working in a franchised dealership that charges top dollar because they are the experts. So, no, I'm not letting the dealership off the hook that easy. In fact, I fault the dealership more so than the inbred hillbilly transmission "mechanic". The dealership is the one that put the fear of God into OP, making him think he was in for a mega-dollars repair.

If it's not a 991 or ^ I can't see the dealer really giving an honest crap.

Not to mention peeps are intermixing this guy with the original KK so posts will be confusing for future and current peeps. KK is someone I don't think you want to be associated with.

Wow. All along it ended up being a sub $1000 dollar fix. Very similar issues we had - with the initial mind boggling atmospheric repair number, only to find out it was a relatively "cheap" repair. All it took was a qualified and thorough mechanic. Although, yours ended up being way more of a nightmare. Glad you finally got it all sorted out.
Do you have your car back yet?

I'm interested to see how much a used shifter will cost through the current shop. But glad they found the problem. One more reason to learn how to fix you can and not rely on shops anymore. More and more just read codes and throw parts at them.
Unless the first transmission get installed in a car and tested that it works, it will be difficult to prove it wasn't broken. Lawyers will tell you many things and often will say what you want to hear. Then at the end, you'll end up paying more than the $3000 you are after so don't rush into getting one. Show your evidence to the dealer you bought the car and see what they are willing to do. The misdiagnosis suing will be a dead end because you took the car to a different shop afterwards. Everyone that touched this car will start pointing fingers heck, it has already begun. I would just mark this down as a $3K lesson and move on.

I'm with Imo000. While some of our attorney buddies here may vehemently disagree, I think that some attorneys say "I think you have a case" when what they actually mean is "I think I could get some money out of this guy."
