Lol! I tried to grow it out this winter. When my wife figured out what I was doing she told me my college days were over and to go get it cut. If I could find my ***** I woulda just told her no. But she hid them a couple years ago and won't tell me where.

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so glad to hear you didn't give up on this beautiful machine!
To everyone (including myself, because I'm NOT mechanically inclined like many on the 996 Rennlist forum) this is a lesson learned BIG time. That is, if I ever have a problem like this, I"m going to get a second and even a third opinion. I won't let some shady shop hold my car hostage and act like they know what they're doing only to charge me top dollar to completely destroy a very good, working transmission. Instead, contact local PCA clubs and ask for great mechanics that can properly and accurately diagnose the problem without replacing unnecessary parts at my expense.
And so my theory was right?... both transmissions were good and this was NOT a "Burned up" transmission and torque converter?
So our questions are:
1. Are you going to be meeting with Dennis in order to present the findings and hopefully recover some of the money he charged you?
2. Get a Lawyer and sue for the full amount if he refuses
3. Or, chalk it up as a "lesson learned" and move on with life and possibly resell the transmission in the future
4. Have someone reassemble the transmission and ship it to Kalash for more shirtless pictures?
Again, congrats to the best thread I've ever read on rennlist!!!![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

I would go with option #3. To sue the other shop, you will have to hire an expert witness and even then, it's a he said she said situation where the only real proof is if the transmission get's re installed and tested. Even then, one can easily argue that the re assembly fixed the transmission. So better off jsut to mark it up as lesson learned and move on with your life.

Be careful of badmouthing anyone this way. It can come back and bite you in the *** if the owner of the shop decides to sue you for defamation of character. You need to have some solid evidence (same as if you go to court) to back up your badmouthing. If you make statements like......"I think..." or "My theory is..." you need solid proof, more than what the next shop told you (shops love putting each other down, it's good for business).
I say, walk away and enjoy your life.

And as long as everyone just walks away then this guy can continue to screw people at will. Bright lights cause rats to scurry. Someone needs to a shine the light on this guy.
Good point about being factual though. Consult a lawyer friend if you aren't sure of your wording.
