The best bang for your buck: Billy Boat (B&B) Cross-Pipes and Gundo Hack. I just had this done and the difference is truly amazing!!

However, since mine is a 997.2 C2 with 3.6L engine, I don't know if the Cross-Pipes are the same for your C2S. I got the cross pipes from JEGS for $576 which includes free shipping. The Gundo hack was done by a local muffler shop for $80 being that I had my shop R&R the cans while the tires were off for a complete brake pad replacement.

Sandra -- I'm working through the same questions right now for my 997.2.

You might want to check this out (No affiliation)

http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=193

I'm looking at this and Fabspeed. I'm personally only replacing the center muffler, others do a lot more...

This all sounds great but we need a 997.1 option!

Nice find. The BB is $700-800 on the factory site.

Really can't take the kudos for the find since it was another forum member who pointed out the JEGS site and the price.

BTW and as I've posted before, if JEGS is making a profit selling the BB pipes which list at ~$760 for $250 less (price difference + $50?? shipping), then there's a whole lot of margin going around.

I recently read a looong post from Sharkwerks justifying their $895 pipes versus the BB product but I just couldn't see it. After all I just two pieces of SS pipe that are basically the same no matter how you look at them!

So in the long run it was the JEGS option that really convinced me. I guess that at this stage in life I'm just too old (and hopefully a bit wiser) to ignore the "little voice" that tells me that I'm not getting a good deal. But hey, that's just me and as for everyone else, go with whatever spins your propeller.

In my opinion, on a bypass type pipe there are really only 3 areas that could justify a higher price or price difference between 2 different offerings.
1. The quality or grade of the Stainless Steel material bring used - some things marketed as stainless still actually have enough ferrous content that a magnet will still stick to them (Char-Broil brand Grills as an example).
2. The type of pipe bends that are done - mandrel bent vs normal. A mandrel bend is is done with a plug in the pipe so at the bends, the pipe diameter isn't reduced and has better flow.
3. The amount of R&D, testing, and reworks done on a part to optimize and fine tune its functionality - flow optimization, etc

Astur can you pls link to that post?
I'm trying to decide and would really like to read the SW defence of their product v. BB.

Thank you.

Here you go...

All of these links should provide enough and probably more information than you need because trust me, there is such a thing as too much information!!!

I started off with the Fisters... the eventually became too quiet. Now I'm running straight muffler bypass pipes and LOVE it. Is it loud? Yes - especially on cold start. I can still have a conversation AND listen to the stereo (and this is a cab as well). If you're easy on the pedal - you can even talk on the phone if you had to.

I ran straight pipes on my aftermarket turbo Miata back in the day (actually started out with SuperTrapps but gutted with age). It gets old after a while. I ended up wearing earplugs some days bc it was just too much. Now that I am older and went through two infants I want to slap anyone who thinks it's ok to run without mufflers on the street (my younger self included). Every time I see a harley with open pipes pull up at a gas station I am tempted to go have a chat with them. Probably wouldn't end well for me

It's still running through the cats. My 5yo and 8yo girls love the sound and love riding in the car with the top down.

Like I said - its loud...sure. but not Harley straight pipe loud. That's ear splitting.

Fabspeed quality is excellent. As another example, I just picked up a set of their Seconday Cat Bypass pipes for my '09 Cayenne Turbo S from another forum member that sold his car and removed them. When they arrived, they looked like most stainless parts do, but after a little bit of polishing, they look like brand new again, and it's because of the grade of stainless and wall thickness of the tubing that Fabspeed uses for their products. Bends were spot-on, mounting holes all lined up perfectly, etc.

The Cayenne sounds great now too !

Photo from the Ad and how they arrived to me

Halfway there.

Ready for Installation - NICE !
